My friend Dean loves ABBA, in fact he uses "ABBADean" as his screen name on all kinds of websites. He's so famous online that this team decided to name themselves after him.
First-Hand Experience: I've seen Aberdeen play live in person two or three times, but only once at their home stadium and it was ages ago. I think they're a grand old club with a fantastic history and really rabid avid fans, and so I have to give them a 5 even though they spawned my nemesis (as a Liverpool fan) named Ferguson.
I'd definitely go back to Pittodrie and see them play again, in fact I may do that in 2016.
The Dons will always be famous for being the club where Mr. Alex Ferguson came to prominence. That's prominence, not prommynancy which is what Sinatra's daughter was on the night of her Senior Prom.
Are you one of the Sheep? If you are, you're a fan of this team. They're the first top division team I've reviewed in either England or Scotland. They play in all red at Pittodrie to 21k people. They were founded in 1903 which is actually quite new in Scottish terms.
They have been champs of Scotland just 4 times (same as the Edinburgh clubs) but much more recently. 1955 was the first, then three under Alex, in 1980, 1984 and 1985, which means they're the most recent team to win the title other than the 2 Glasgow giants.
They've won the Scottish Cup 7 times, and been runners up 8 times. One of the wins was under Ferguson, the most recent was 2000. They've won the Scottish League Cup 6 times including a couple under Fergie, and been runners up 7 times.
They've also amazingly won the Cup Winners Cup in Europe in 1983, which is unprecedented, and again is down to Mr Alex.
I can't stand Fergie but this is a truly great club. read more
