We looked at many preschools, but none of them felt quite right until we toured SJMS. The staff is extremely conscientious, engaged, and dedicated to the children. While many schools claim to be Montessori, many don't actually adhere to the principles very closely. SJMS is a true Montessori school, taking the time to not only practice the Montessori method but also to educate parents about the method. The school is small, just two classrooms with two dedicated teachers in each classroom, so the student-teacher ratio is quite good. If you're looking for a Montessori school that prioritizes the experience of your child, look no further.

I like that the school is in a residential area with no busy streets and the full-time hours 7:30-6 works perfectly for us. My speech delayed child started in the smaller toddler class last March and as he progressed into the preschool class with older children, he blossomed into quite the talkative chatterbox. Each of my girls thrived in their own way. The teachers took the time to understand their unique personalities and learning styles, creating a space where they felt both supported and challenged. Ms. Nisha was fortunately there for the full preschool term of both of my daughters, and I couldn't be happier about it. I fully trust her, and I know that both of my children learned so much thanks to her and the preschool director, Ms. Betty. One of the most valuable things Montessori Way taught my children is the ability to focus on a task. I saw this firsthand when my first daughter started kindergarten during COVID, with school fully online. While many children struggled to concentrate, she was able to stay engaged and work independently--and I truly credit that to her time at Montessori Way. I have no doubt that my second daughter will transition just as smoothly and thrive when she starts kindergarten in fall 2025.

Ms. Jas, Ms. Yuen, Ms. Lori, Ms. Janet, and Ms. Edith have all been incredibly patient, supportive, and intentional in helping my daughter grow. She started off quite resistant, but they helped her feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home in the classroom. A special thank you to Ms. Jas and Ms. Yuen, who have put so much effort into nurturing her interest in desk work and helping her develop positive classroom behavior in the Montessori style. I genuinely appreciate the environment they've created--one where I feel completely confident leaving my daughter each day. I also really appreciate the strong security measures in place, including the two code-locked entry doors before entering the school. When my in-laws have picked up my daughter, staff have always checked their ID cards and matched them to her authorized pickup list before releasing her, which gives me great peace of mind. She now runs in with big hugs every end of day, which says everything about the loving relationships she's built with her teachers.

He was not the easiest child at the time--he was nonverbal and had a tough time adjusting. I was honestly very worried in the beginning. But the patience, care, and dedication from Ms. Lori and the team made all the difference. Within just a few months, he went from signing to speaking in full sentences. It was amazing to witness. They worked closely with him (and with me!) through behavioral challenges and supported us through potty training--we went cold turkey, and they were absolutely incredible throughout the process. I always felt like we were a team, and they truly understood that children go through different phases. The environment is clean, welcoming, and Montessori-style, which I love. When Ms. Janet was co-teaching, they were even incorporating Spanish into the classroom, which was such a great added benefit. After he turned 3, he transitioned into the preschool class with Ms. Yen and Ms. Jas, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about them. His behavior challenges completely disappeared almost immediately. I don't know if it was the structure, the environment, or a combination of both--but the transformation has been unbelievable. He is learning at a level that truly amazes me. At just 3.5 years old, he is beginning to read and write, he loves to sing and dance, and he even comes home asking for homework. They have done such an incredible job preparing him for TK this August--I have zero doubts he is ready, and that is 100% because of their care and teaching. My younger son (2 years old) just started in Ms. Lori's class this week, and he comes home so happy and excited every day. That alone says everything. This daycare feels like a second family. The teachers genuinely care about the children, and it shows in everything they do. I am beyond grateful for the love, patience, and dedication they have given both of my boys. I would highly recommend this daycare to any parent--your children will be in the best hands.

How are we supposed to know how our child is doing or address the behavior with no communication ? Barely 4 words to say at pick up. No notes are being sent home. Nothing like this. She is coming home with dirty underwear constantly. Is she potty trained, yes does she need to make sure she is doing a good job, also yes. Called us disrespectful for bringing our concerns to their attention. Said this is how they learn: "They are itchy and uncomfortable and it helps them learn to wipe better" Not one good thing to say about our child at parent teacher conference. They asked me what she liked, and I listed some things. That was the most positive part of the conversation. They didn't even prove to me they have gotten to know my child by telling me what she really likes at school. Only bad things. Only focusing on things she isn't doing well. Nothing good to say about her behavior or their favorite things about her in the classroom. Nothing. They said our child harmed someone with her hair clip. They removed her hair clip from her hair every day at school and re did her hair daily but never notified me of the problem till parent teacher conference. I don't know when it happened. No incident report nothing. When I was concerned about this being brought up at the parent teacher conference their story changed. She didn't hurt anyone. Like they will lie to cover their backs. Their stories changed. Trust is lost. No incident report. Didn't let me know what's going on when it happened. Nothing. They brought up many concerning things that have not even been introduced to my child at home yet like she is learning it from there and acting out They aren't doing their job at this school and the director is the main problem. Of course it trickles down. Extremely negative environment. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. Take your money somewhere else. This school is only set up for babies who start from the beginning. They want their students to act like robots and expect a 2-3 year old to sit at their desk for 8 hours a day. As if this is normal for this age and it is not. They expect your 2-3 year old to change their shoes when getting to school and at pick up. As if a three year old can grasp this concept. And they cannot understand fully why they need to wear shoes to school then change into school shoes. They were very annoyed about my child using the bathroom so frequently but she is learning and doesn't want to have an accident. Everything seems like a bother as if they do not want to do their job Good luck having your 2-3 year old start here at this program. Not realistic at all. Extremely disappointed I was never notified of behavior. I would like to know how my child is doing so I can be consistent addressing the behavior at home. How do you let things go for a month and a half and just wait till the parent teacher conference to notify of an issue. This is not proactive behavior or professional. Extremely happy to not have my child going to this school anymore. My child cried every day for a month at drop off saying she didn't want to go here. It is a daily thing to convince her to go. Other kids struggle greatly at drop off too. Maybe this is a HUGE RED FLAG!!!!!!! None of the kids look happy here. Not one.

Now that she is a month away from being 2 years old, our daughter has grown and learned so much since being in this school. I remember my first day dropping her off and she cried for about two weeks before she was able to finally transition, and man, that was rough for a first time mom. But the school provides an app with updates via messages and pictures of their daily activities (arts and crafts, sharing day, circle time), which helped settle those nerves especially in the early days. Now, my daughter walks up herself to daycare and waves mommy goodbye. It's definitely a proud mommy moment to see her grow to be independent, while also giving her the gift of learning early in a school setting and making friends along the way. I also have to add - the teacher to children ratio here also makes me feel confident my daughter is getting the attention and care she needs from the teachers - and you can also tell the teachers truly care about the children at the school. I love working with Ms Katie on the admin parent side, and I could tell Mrs Cho and Mrs Choi both adore my daughter. Santa Clara Montessori also provides summer school activities for two weeks, which included some water activities which my daughter absolutely loved! Finally, I have to admit, while childcare in the Bay Area is expensive, Santa Clara Montessori provides flexibility and options which works for our family. Rather enrolling our daughter in the full time program, we have been enrolled in the part time program, first with three days and then expanding to the four day program. This works great for our family financially, and we're happy Santa Clara Montessori provides this option for us. We're so happy we found a place we could trust leaving our daughter while we're at work, while also being a place that helps our daughter continue to learn and grow.

CWBM has been like a second home for my children. Just a few of the many things I love about the school: 1) The school itself is a true Montessori school. CWBM is observed by an Association Montessori International (AMI) representative yearly and continues to be recognized as a member of the Association Montessori International. 2) The school itself is so clean and bright inside. This was one of the main reasons I chose CWBM for my children. The children are also taught to help keep the school tidy and neat. 3) The teachers are loving and attentive. On the weekends when he is not in school, my son has often called out his teachers' names while trying to call out to me (his mother). This is just a small indicator of how fond my son was of his teachers. 4) My children were happy in school while learning math, how to read, participating in singing, soccer, dancing, class. 5) Chinese culture and language was introduced during school, which I appreciated, especially living in this global society. 6) I think what I really appreciated most recently with covid, is the precautions that are taken to keep the children and teachers safe. From the very beginning of the pandemic, I felt safe sending my kids to school here and I was on the paranoid side (my kids were one of the first to comfortably wear masks during the pandemic). My children and I will always think of our time at CWBM fondly and continue to recommend this preschool to others. Thank you CWBM!

For the first few weeks, she would cry every single day at the door, not wanting to leave mommy and daddy, and go to a place where she did not know anybody. She was not overtly social at the time, and took time to make friends / interact. Within a couple months, we had her going from not wanting to go to school, to cant wait to go to school. Ms Cecilia and Ms Karina both of them took care of all the kiddos with a lot of love care and affection. Ensuring they eat their food on time. Initial month or so was tough, as she was used to be fed at home, but over time she figured out that nobody is going to feed her and she needs to finish her lunch box by herself. And she did start eating over time. She was always a picky eater so we had take care of that but otherwise it was all good. The schedule of schhool is good, with a circle time in the morning, followed by some play time out side, a class, and then lunch, a nap time, followed by another playtime, artwork and then finally its time to go home. This is high level - it does change a bit. They have a Monday bring a book (on a specific theme) and Friday bring an object (starting with letter of the week) and those objects are needed to share. They use an app called ProCare for checkin and checkout, and for sharing any special moments/photographs. As well as any notices. Kids celebrate their birthdays in class with a special ritual and its fun. Parents are allowed to be in school during the kiddo's birthday too. They have parent teachers conference where your childs progress is talked through in a Montessory based style. In the second year, Ms Elaihi - we were told by many friends was on the stricter side. And we were like YES, we do want a strict teacher :). Our daughter at 3 definitely needed one. But honestly Ms Elaihi is one of the most loving and caring teachers, and my kiddo loved her a lot. Finally you go into third year, and we have Ms Coleen, we now are into the big kids area where Ms Collen helped our kids with academics, and very soon we had these babies who could not talk or eat on their own, or go to bathroom, now learning about math, and learning to read by themselves, and finishing 2-3 workbooks. She really is an Ace teacher with an decade+ experience and we were truly blessed to have her teaching the 3rd year and my 4-5y daughter loved being in her classroom learning all these awesome things. Overall all these 3 years, we also had Ms Varsha who is every parents confidant to help in matters big and small. And finally Ms Sheetal was also always there to support us all through - esp in times of need. We had lots of gatherings on Easter, Mother/Father days, Chinese new year, Diwali, Halloween, Christmas and many more. They also have a fun summer program where kids are asked to come with diferent clothing/objects. Overall we loved being part of this school for the three years we were here, we never felt like a school - parent relationship, and it was more of a small close knit family. And we would highly recommend to any parent trying to find a school for their baby in this neighborhood.

I don't have enough words to convey what a wonderful pre-school it is. The teachers are extremely warm and care for the little ones like they are their own. As a parent, you leave behind a piece of your heart and want to know your child is being cared for, where they spend the most of their time, especially of their crucial developmental years. Early on, teachers took care to learn Isha's naptime routine and even learnt the Hindi lullaby she was used to and sang it to her everyday. That really helped ease her transition from home to school. Their monthly menu is diverse and even has Indian meal options which was a big plus for me! They have a very balanced plate and I don't have to worry about my kid eating healthy at school. They also have very well planned weekly curriculum where they teach kids life skills, have them do projects, have monthly themes for kids. They engage with the kids 1:1, have circle and music time which is great for kids to learn new songs and dance. The classrooms are large, where kids have a very clean environment and a good selection of learning books and toys (See pictures). The outdoors is also very well setup for kids to have physical activity, twice a day. They post weekly newsletters on what the kids were taught at school and it helps us better understand what kids are learning at school. They also have special events planned for Thanksgiving, Christmas, where kids perform songs and have parents join in for the celebration. Mrs. Varsha, the program director is very warm and approachable, and makes sure to know and bond with every kid personally, despite having such a large facility. She makes sure to care for every kid's individual needs and receptive to feedback. She makes sure to take action on the smallest feedback very promptly, while always being very kind with the parents and her staff. The school is gated and I've found it to be very safe for my kiddo. The student to teacher ratio is also very healthy 6:1, and they regularly post photos and videos of kids on brightwheel, so you can see their special moments through the day. The teachers try to make sure every kid is well cared for, and I cannot emphasize what an incredible job they do! Taking care of little ones, especially in their parents' absence, everyday is one of the most important and rewarding jobs in the world, and they are doing a brilliant job at that. My older kid went to a different preschool and I wasn't very happy with how it was run, but I feel like I hit the jackpot with Valley Oak Montessori. Thank you very much for making it so easy for me as a mom to leave behind my child, knowing she's loved and cared for. It's a very hard job, and extremely well done! Big thank you to the entire team!

Great school and great teachers. We had our daughter start there at age 3, she is now almost 5 and…read moreable to sound out 1 syllable words, knows all the sounds of every letter including the long and short sounds of the vowels, knows her letters by sight, is able to write her name, letters, and numbers. Because of this our daughter was able to pass a kindergarten entrance exam and get admitted to a private elementary school. Thank you so much for all your hard work and for getting my girl ready for her first year at kindergarten next year!
