    Chartrons - Grand Parc

Allow me to preface this story by stating my background. I'm a software developer who works as a…read moreconsultant for a large company that deals with open source software. I also am a co-founder of a start-up. I also wrote the de facto standard Crypto suite that enables bitcoin transactions in php and i made it free under the MIT license before anybody knew what bitcoin was (80% of the known internet is written in php). I am passionate about software development. When my business partner who won the Austin competition sponsored by this incubator mentioned to me early November 2015 (iirc) that we have the opportunity to be part of the 2016 cuvee of this accelerator and showed me the offer letter he received, it sounded like a dream come true. I was absolutely willing to attempt it given that I am committed to my startup and given the pedigree of mentors in this incubator. Fast forward a few weeks after the company I work for has amazingly approved the leave of absence and we sent in all the required paperwork, everything was ready. We waited around for a couple of months to hear about next steps. Around the end of January we sent Mr Petre ( btw, the only other reviewer) and Mr Pretet a few email asking what the next steps were, but to this day we didn't receive a response. I also tried to contact Ms Soulé, their administrative assistant whose e-mail listed on her LinkedIn profile bounced for a few days before the mail server gave up. The company I work for full time graciously allowed me to retract my leave of absence. I live in the united states, but I'm originally from Europe... I'm not going to further waste your time with trying to draw up conjectures about what went wrong as neither my associate or I have heard from any representative of this start-up after the initial letter they provided us. The only conclusion I can draw is that this incubator lacks business ethics because they didn't respond to numerous requests for more information from both my associate and me. I hear the word "no" from my clients all the time and I'm used to it. It's the sensible thing to do in business to be ethical and save time and effort on both ends of a professional relationship. A simple, and timely "Sorry, we changed our minds" would have been enough.
