All I can say from my experience is AVOID!! This place…read morelooked beautiful and we were told we would have a personal experience where the staff would pick out a dress wild card to push her out of her comfort zone and pick a few other dresses as well. Maybe we expected too much but we didn't have any other issues in any other shop.... As soon as we walked in the owner was rude and didn't seem interested in the wedding itself at all, didn't ask any questions about the wedding, groom or anything, only the date. She asked the bride if she had an idea of what she wanted, to which the bride replied "she wasn't sure and didn't know, she was trying to find a style that suited her" the bride had insecurities of her body and wasn't sure what would look best. The owners abrupt response was "let me stop you there, you're not looking for a style you're looking for a dress". Now I could see her point but the way it was said and put across was extremely rude and unprofessional!! My friend became anxious and didn't really know what to say. A few of us picked out 3 dresses for my friend to try on, there was no touches like Prosecco or even a smile really. The assistant seemed lovely but very shy and seemed scared of the owner. We were in the shop for less than 30 minutes and the bride tried on about 5 dresses! The owner didn't do the "wild card" dress as we were made to believe, and they kept putting the same type of dresses on her. The assistant threw them on and off of her which scratched her. The bride went to turn to the bridesmaids when the owner said "no need they can see you in the mirror" absolutely ridiculous... they didn't add any accessories to any dress to give the full picture. They rushed the appointment to which everyone felt uncomfortable. The bride asked about sleeves and the owner kept putting the same sleeve on her, we asked to see different ones and the answer we had was "we have over 80 styles" and yet still only put the one sleeve type on her. She was damn rude, made comments about her budget and kept pushing her to buy. I understand the sale technique of "we only have one so buy it now" and maybe the bride would have if she had a better experience. This was her first experience trying on dresses and she was very nervous, this didn't help and completely put her off of wedding dress shopping. Thankfully she attended a few other shops that made much more effort and made her feel at ease. I do not advise attending this shop as we travelled over an hour for this shop and it was not worth it!! The owner is rude and seems extremely dominating and her way or no way. The assistant however seemed lovely but looked too scared to step out of line and have her own opinions.

Was really looking forward to trying on wedding dresses, a fab moment in a girls life!!! Until I…read morewalked into this shop. The shop was beautiful, well presented, nice and spacious. Staff were terrible!!! They were rude, unhelpful. My sister and I were made to feel unwelcome. The owner sat behind the front desk and didn't move from there the whole time. She snorted at me when I was explaining the type of dress I was looking for, and stated 'never heard of such a dress??' We were made to feel about an inch tall. Terrible customer service. I did try one on, which I loved! But couldn't bring myself to purchase this dress, because I simply would rather give my money to a shop with a friendly welcome as we walked through the door. Just goes to show, even winning awards for bridal design, it still doesn't compensate for being made to feel special when your looking for the dress of your dreams. Quite tempted to open my own bridal shop and show them how it's done x

My wife spent a very long time trying to perfect her wedding outfit (as most wives to be probably…read moredo!) She tried to get everything in a budget in order to save up for our house deposit, which is difficult when you want to look perfect (which she did!) She found the perfect veil at the Bridal Emporium on Fore Street. The veil had been used in the shop window, which is where she saw it. It had a few crystals and beads missing, and had a small hole in it, so she managed to negotiate £20 off the price tag. She then proceeded to buy replacement beads and crystals on ebay, and expertly repaired the veil for under £3 - it looked amazing on the big day!

I am not having a terribly good experience with the Bridal Emporium. The alteration of my dress has…read morebeen delayed considerably and their customer service is woeful. My dress arrived in April ordered in good time in October 2011 and initially (during the sales process) their staff were helpful. 3 days after I ordered the dress I called up to say that I had looked at the sizing and they had not taken my height into consideration. I was told at this stage that these dresses come in one length only (something I understand is not entirely true) and that it would have to be shortened if necessary. I had a fitting in April and as anticipated the length had to be altered. I was told that this was a 'complex' alteration due to the dress I had ordered and was quoted a price way above what I had been told on alteration cost at the initial sale (more than twice) but I took it on the chin. I was supposed to have a second fitting and at which I was led to believe I would be able to take my dress home if it was okay on 31st August. I was called a few days before this to change the date of the fitting to 13th September. This despite the fact that my wedding date was looming at 22nd September. I received no real apology I was met with a quite arrogant attitude but hey ho. I called on 12th September to see if I could have the fitting earlier and was told possibly not because their seamstress may not get in on time to start the alteration. What? This had not been started already? The upshot of it is I am really on the countdown to my wedding it is in 10 days time. I have to make a trip to Exeter from Plymouth tomorrow for a fitting where my alteration is pinned. I dread to think how long it will take them to finalise the alteration if all is okay (and I'm not holding my breath here) will it be in time for my wedding on 22nd September? And when you speak to staff it is implied that you did not understand the process of fitting / alteration. My fault? I think not. This business really needs to shape up. Shocking service and I am really regretting choosing them over local companies.
