Fried fish with greens and a roll. Greens are on point. I order the fish here every time whether its the baked or fried and I debated in the line several times on which one but just knew that I'd regret my choice if I DIDNT get the fried fish. The flavor was alright, but it was very dry and chewy, not at all like it normally is. The atmosphere is clean and everyone was friendly. I was just very disappointed with the fish. The prices are very high for everything to not be perfect. I'll try again I'm sure but next time I'll go with something else. read more

The service was incredible, I told the girl processing my order that it was my first time in and she gave me a complimentary drink and cookie, as well as a free side! That was so sweet of her! This is my favorite local dinner spot! We go here when we're looking for something quick and easy but also, delicious. There isn't a time when I don't want Abbay's! Everything I've had is good! My usual is the meatloaf because it's so good and flavorful. The sweet potato casserole is also a must have! The macaroni and cheese is another favorite! The best part, in my opinion is that it never tastes like fast food but in the drive thru, I get my food much faster than most other drive-thrus! Today I ordered 3 piece catfish with pinto beans and fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were hard, old, etc. The catfish was also hard. They did not add cornbread either. I called to speak to the manager and she said "Oh we don't sell old food". I said well, these potatoes are definitely old and the fish is hard. She offered to write my name down so that I can get another of potatoes at a later date. My meal was $12.54. I am very disappointed in the way she handled this issue. I went through Abbay's website to place & pay for an order. When I arrived to pick up my order, I was told (by who I'm assuming was the manager) that their internet was down & I needed to call the company that handles their online ordering system & get them to refund me my money & then place an order with them directly. ...First off, if anyone is going to call YOUR ordering system, it should be y'all and second, if I have proof that I placed & paid for the order, y'all should honor it. Your internet issues aren't my fault. The ordering company had to directly call the restaurant to cancel my order which lets me know that y'all could have called them to verify my order & payment. This is the first time I've been to the restaurant. My kids love it and I have to admit it is tasty. Fried catfish and chicken strips are very good.... Excellent spices. Fried okra and mashed potatoes were great. There is a trend with the fried foods. I wish they had more healthy choices.... Even if it were a green salad. Back home in Chicago , we were blessed with Boston Market. Delicious freshly made whole/half rotisserie chickens and wonderful (WONDERFUL) sides. I was making my way down Germantown Parkway one day and spied a little place called Abbay's. Imagine my surprise when I pulled up to the drive-thru menu and realized THIS was the southern version of my beloved Boston Market. Sure, it isn't quite as healthy as Boston Market (okay not healthy at all) but it feels like a home cooked meal. In fact, I feel like when I get Abbay's food that someones Grandma spent the day cooking up a large meal just for me. Abbay's offers up quite an extensive menu. My favorite being the chicken fried steak with a side of mashed potatoes, gravy and corn. The three are perfect together. Especially once I mix my corn and potatoes up all together. Why is it that I carried my childhood love of mixing my corn and mashed potatoes together into a crazy looking concoction with me as an adult now? I always add a side of the spicy broccoli bites because they may be the best fried veggie invention known to man. I don't know what Abbay's puts in this batter, but it is simply amazing. Who woulda thunk that broccoli would make an excellent veggie fried? Apparently Abbay's did! Ive been here a few times so far. If you want a meal that actually tastes like dinner instead of fast food but don't have time to cook, this is a great choice. The chicken and dumplings are very good, and I tried the hamburger steak today which was also good. The spicy fried broccoli is one of my favorites. The prices are reasonable, the service was very quick, staff was friendly, and you can double your meat entree for only $1.99, awesome price! This location is settle in middle busy Cordova/Wolfchase area. I decided to eat at this location on a busy Sunday afternoon over a year ago when I noticed that the restaurants surrounding it were packed and this place seemed to be the only place they didn't have a full house. The restaurant was clean and had a nice menu selection. I was immediately greeted my order taken and only had to wait a few minutes for my order. I found the food to be obviously not five star but very good for the price. I've been back several times and I've never had a negative experience. I only wish that the food that I did receive each time wasn't room temperature. But I would recommend it. read more

After a morning of errands I decided to stop at Abbays for lunch. I ordered fried catfish, corn, Mac and cheese and a roll. The catfish now only comes with 2 strips but you can add more for 1.40 per strip. I was disappointed with the catfish.. Strips of fish were very dry and you can tell it had been left in a warmer. I haven't logged onto Yelp in quite some time now but my experience at Abbay's a few hours ago was so bad that I felt it would be dishonorable not to warn others to stay far, far away from this place! Maybe I picked the wrong time or maybe even the wrong day to visit Abbay's for the first time but I'm pretty sure that I won't visit Abbay's again anytime this century. The parking lot that contained about only eight cars should have been my first sign to drive right on past this place and right into the wrapped around the building line at Jim and Nicks. However, I decided, against my better judgement, to pull up to the speaker in the drive thru and place an order. What should have been my second clue to keep driving was when the person who took my order sounded as if she had just awaken from a deep sleep but noooo I wanted to find out if what a couple of my friends had to say about this place was actually true. Let's start w/ the pork chop. I don't know if anyone likens the way food tastes to the way things smell...but yes I'm one of those people that does. If you've ever smelled a wet dog then imagine the horror on my face when I bit into my pork chop only to discover that the smell of a wet dog now has a taste! Don't get me wrong, they are pretty generous with their portion sizes but at this point I would have rather had small portions of great tasting food instead of the large portions of the distasteful food that I was served a few hours ago. I'm pretty confident that the plastic bag that contained my plate of food tasted way better than the food I received. The spicy fried broccoli looked like the second cousin to okra (should have been impossible right) and was so salty that I'm pretty sure I developed high blood pressure tonight. Last but not least, I know that everyone fixes food differently but who mixes a package of hidden valley ranch dressing in potato salad AND, to add insult to injury, add mayo to it??? I don't even know where to begin with this one. The four of us stopped in famished, and picked this place because all the other surrounding restaurants were busy.Big mistake !! We ordered our food and it was $35.00 for the four of us. I had the fish,broccoli and cheese casserole,mac and cheese with fried broccoli. My son had the hamburger steak and the other two had chicken. So while we are waiting for our order ,the guy at the counter informs us that they are out of Mac n cheese. What self respecting home cooking place runs out of Mac n cheese???? So we got another side instead. My fish was cooked so much that the sliver of fish left was just dry and tasteless. The broccoli casserole tasted like broccoli flavored rice mush. Oh but it gets better! I bite into the fried spicy broccoli and about broke a filling! My wife said hers was hard as a rock as well. So I go to the counter and the cook is getting a drink,I say these are really hard and can I get something else. He says"Yeah, those have been in the warmer a really long time".!!! I said well why did you even serve them, he just shrugs his shoulders and goes back to the kitchen. So, I am getting a refill ,and I see two orders sitting on the counter with Mac n cheese!!! So I say do you guys make more Mac n cheese cause you said you were out of it?? She says "yeah and it looks really good too"!! I asked if they were making more why didn't you just say that and we would have waited instead of getting some other crappy side??? She just looks at me like a deer in the head lights and retreats to the kitchen. My son's chicken fried steak looked like a hockey puck ,and after almost breaking a tooth on the broccoli, my adventurous nature was gone!!! I get home am hour later and my order was totally wrong!! I was missing cornbread that I'd ordered and the two sides were just way wrong. I mean, it makes me wonder who can read there. My order was entered in correctly, just not read correctly. I called to inform them of the issue and was told to bring the receipt and get another meal . abbay's germantown parkway (wolfchase). i purchased two pints of cole slaw from abbay's on june 1st 2012 at 4:08 pm. i attempted to served the slaw for dinner around 5:30ish the same day. both containers of cole slaw appeared to be old and the purple cabbage was somewhat discolored. today at 4:50 pm i returned to abbay's with the less than fresh cole slaw and was told by the manger on duty that it was at his discretion whether he exchanged the slaw or not. therefore, he elected not to refund my money or exchange the slaw. the manager stated that it had been more than 24hrs and anything could have happened to the slaw! that i could have "left it in the car." no i did not not leave it in the car! i live 3.2 miles from abbay's!! i paid $7.63 for two pints of cole slaw and the manager would not make an exchange for a fresh bash of slaw! beware!!! there's not written policy regarding refunds or exchange....it's left up to the discretion of the manager! read more
