Contacted ABA to find out where my 401k had vanished. The man was rude, and put me on hold for over 30 minutes. He told me go contact my employer, and that their company does not know where they transferred the money. Horrible customer service, and the money just vanished. When I initially set up this 401(k) several years back, I set mine to be aggressive since I'm young and can take risks. It has so far done very well for me.
I have only dealt with customer service once (in order to change my name). Now I guess I have 1/2 of a 401(k) :) The customer service people were friendly and easy to deal with. I love seeing how much my account has grown in six years. While I'm not even thinking about retiring, I am thinking about retirement, and this is a great Program to have my funds carried with. read more
The ABA Retirement Funds Program is no way to run a 401(k) retirement fund. The management fees all run around 75 basis points, including index funds that should be a tenth of that. Information regarding the individual funds is poor to non-existent, and in nearly every case stale by the time the fund can produce it. The best thing about the fund is that it offers a self-managed alternative, which is absolutely the way to go for those seeking reasonable management fees and adequate fund information. read more
