I have been a member of AAA since 1956 and have had the greatest respect for the company - UNTIL NOW. In May, I was stranded in a rural area of the Suncoast Hwy and called for a tow at 1:15pm. After several calls back and forth with AAA Florida, I was told a tow would arrive at 5:20pm. At about 5pm, I received a call informing me that there would be no tow. I asked what was I supposed to do and was told that I could either sleep in the car or leave the keys in the car and find a way home to Inglis (67 miles away). Fortunately, a Good Samaritan stopped and drove me home. I wrote a letter in May to the AAA Florida CEO and have yet to receive a response. Then I sent a copy of the letter to AAA National Public Relations Officer E Edmonds and have yet to get a response. All I can say is that AAA is not what it used to be and I will be finding an alternative. read more

I went to the Ocala AAA to get my International Driver's Permit and found out they do passport photos and notarization services so ended up taking care of a lot of my documentation needs! If there was a no star I would suggest it. My sister got hit by a semi-truck in Ocala. I was on the phone from Arizona with her on another phone when she called AAA to get a tow. They told her 15 minutes at 3 o'clock. I won't say anything more except 8 hours later she and I were on the phone again and she was still waiting. She had called 8 times and spoke to different help and they kept telling her they had no claim to get her and restarted the order. I decided to call AAA and put her on 3-way. I asked for a Supervisor and got someone named Alicia or Felicia, I just told her my background was rescue, police, and fire dept., so what in the world could have AAA so dumbfounded getting my sister's car towed so she and a friend could go to hospital, she now felt ill after being hit by a semi and needed to go to ER. When my sister and I were on the phone, Alicia (Felicia) was rude and told me to stop speaking as she would talk. I found out she was one of them who screwed up the claim. The driver I spoke to, after I pulled the number from (A or F) said he would handle the situation. we have 3 witnesses to this horrible ordeal! Absolutely crummy service. Got stuck in the mud. I called to get pulled out. 4 1/2 hours later, three phone calls, and a supervisor. Still waiting. What a joke. I was originally told they be out in an hour. then a follow up call after indicating they'd be out in 1/2 an hour that said they be here in 1/2 hour. I'm now told they can't come today. We'll have to wait until tomorrow. Crap service. read more

Worst service I have ever seen daughter called at 6:30 at night and the tow truck never showed up.went to get her a 2:00 in morning. They should be put out of business for this kind of service. After over 20 years as a member I finally cancelled my AAA membership. I simply will not pay for a membership where I break down and wait for over 24 hrs for a tow with ZERO communication from AAA! My time is worth more than a tow bill!!!! read more

No service. Why pay for a membership when AAA Ocala provides no service. Twice my daughter has needed a tow truck. Twice none were available. This after two hours of being lied to that one was on the way. Do not use AAA Ocala. Would give less than one star if possible. You can't receive worse service. read more

Things aren't always as they seem............. When making hotel reservations online through AAA be fore warned that you are NOT going through AAA travel services. AAA contracts out their online reservations to a third part. Namely, Travelocity! This means that your charge card is not being handled by AAA, and if your are a reward member of that hotel then you're out of luck. Their advertised "up to 20% off" is not what it seems also. Check ALL the discounts the hotel has to offer. Also, you will be charged soon after your reservations are made....not after checking out of the hotel. Read everything!!! There are NO disclaimers in their ads to let you know that Travelocity handles their reservations!!! read more

I make a point to go to this office to pick up gift cards which I purchase for personal use and they help pay my yearly membership. The process is involved and takes a while to complete but the staff is extremely knowledgeable and happy to help. I always leave smiling! ( I do wish they were open on the weekends....) read more

We travel for several months each year in an RV. AAA is super-valuable. Ex: 1) AAA-RV-Plus service got us towed 92 miles when our car broke down & we had to get repair in next state. 2) TourBooks are our road bibles on where to go and what to see. We are presenters at RV rallies nationwide and always mention how AAA is a must-have when you're traveling. Driving on the road without AAA is like traveling in your car without a jack, spare tire, or other "essential" tools for travel. AAA's services are cost-effective and just make good, common sense. And their employees are always courteous and truly interested in meeting OUR needs. Liked the old format of TourBooks better but that's a minor issue. read more

I only went in for a passport photo and found a bag I wanted to purchase. While everyone is very VERY friendly, plan to take some time. They are not fast. I would still use them often but don't run in there and plan to get out quickly ( but you can plan to have fun and laugh) read more

I visited AAA Ocala to get a trip tic for upcoming trip camping in mountains, only needed the maps and trip tickets. THey always make it so much easier to travel as I do it alone most the time, giving exits, etc. I really dislike GPS so this works for me.It is difficult without a navigator in the car to help me, so I rely on these trip tics and maps. I have been to the Ocala AAAfor the last few years just before summer to get this same info from Carolyn, a very very good, patient and friendly employee, when I would be preparing to go to Marquette MI, from Ocala for the whole summer. Knew I could get same kind of help so went back to obtain info for this upcoming trip. Walked in, had no appointment, explained the route I wanted to take and got the trip tic and maps and was out of there in 15 minutes. EXCELLENT service ! read more
