There's a daily menu that includes a side salad or soup, delicious home made bread, main dish and dessert. All for a reasonable price and a local ambiance that hasn't changed for decades. I'm vegetarian and I love their salads and their veggie empanadas. You can always get a plate of rice and salads of your choice as a modified menu. Servers are very friendly and food is great. I can't recommend the vegetarian empanadas enough: Cheese, Veggies, or Mushrooms with cheese.

I can't believe this place has no reviews yet on Yelp!…read more Los Reyes del Pan is located on Recoleta very close to La Vega. Definitely worth a trip here especially if you are in the neighbourhood. Los Reyes are a specialty Colombian bakery. They are famous for their cakes, made to order and can be decorated anyway you please. (Check their facebook page for pics of the cakes, the design is absolutely incredible and professional looking) They also have a huge selection of individual desserts and treats, cake slices, cookies, cupcakes, tarts, mousses etc. Everything is very affordable (500-1,000 CLP per item, some which are large enough to share). The staff is super friendly and considering this is in Recoleta, it is very very clean and modern inside, lots of seating and air conditioning, more similar to something you would find in Las Condes or Providencia. Not to be missed!

They reopened to sell us a half dozen meat empanadas and a half dozen cheese. They weren't cheap, $18,000 pesos ($26 bucks), but we had to have them. The pino (meat) is super tender steak. The texture could have been a little bit juicier, but we had taken them home and reheated, so I recommend trying them right there. The dough was tender, but not greasy or flaky and rolled super thin. They have several cheese options: plain, with olives or with tomatoes, we tried them all and like the tomato the best. They have limited seating, all outside, as it looks to be the owner's home. If your in Santiago and like locals' faves that are off the beaten path, you gotta go!

I had the Pino empanada, and it completely hit the spot. The filling is loaded with meat, onions, and a savory gravy. It honestly reminded me of a delicious French onion soup pot pie. It's pure comfort food. The empanadas are huge for the price, making it an amazing value. The ordering system is also super efficient: pay at the register (they do take credit cards), take your ticket to the pickup counter, and find a spot at one of the standing bar tables to dig in. If you are exploring downtown Santiago, definitely swing by.

The bakery location is off one of the main streets, there's not much ambience and the chairs are metal material so not much to lounge on for an enjoyable lunch/snack. Reading prior reviews I picked up on the customer service, they are not the friendliest just very business like, place your order, pay, sit and get out. I think they have a heavy catering section and make their dollars there. I happy to say that they did have a variety of empanadas to choose from and they also had a "grab and go" section. Not sure what their pricing is for these grab containers but I'm sure if you worked around the area this bakery could be convenient for lunch. The empanadas were nice but there's more options to choose from.
