TL;DR: DO NOT hire this company! They will take your money and never complete the work. They will…read morenot return you calls, texts, or emails. Clayton Grubbs is the owner of Upstate Painting Solutions. He is the only person I dealt with from his company Work and Customer Service: Clayton is unresponsive on text and doesn't answer calls, his VM box is full, has horrible attitude and blames the customer for all reasons why he can't show up and complete his work. Clayton would commit to coming out on a day when rain is forecast, no-show, then, only occasionally, would respond to calls about the no-show with a text saying "can't work, its raining" (on a contract with interior paint work) Clayton continually promised to complete the contract, never verbally rescinded his commitment, but continually no-showed while making promises up until the day the contract expired, preventing us from asking for a refund or looking for another contractor . Total no show/no answer on the final day bf the contract expired. He took $900(approx half of total, my mistake) up front for the contract up front 4 weeks before it expired, and in the entire course of that period, only did shoddy prep work, and painted only in one part of 1 of the 3 areas he was contracted to paint. The work he did was shoddy at best, such as leaving 1/2 inch gaps between tape and windows, leaving paint chips and trash all over(which will fail an appraisal). He never brought a crew over, only did (the very little) work himself. He worked inefficiently (getting little done during 4 specific instances where he showed); specifically, he showed up by himself, no crew, 4 times over 4 weeks to work on what he characterized as a 2 day job (with crew), and did a sum total of 20% of the work he was contracted for during that period Clayton Grubbs did shoddy work during those instances: for example, only taping half a window, only scraping half a surface. Leaving paint chips all over the ground (any one of which could cause a fail in the inspection he was contracted to make us pass) He performed highly specific acts of negligence that unambiguously countermanded the job he was hired to do (to pass a paint inspection), including: 1)leaving paint chips all over the ground (any one of which would have caused a paint inspection failure) 2) throwing each screw into the leaves on the ground as he took off window frames for prep work (we had to buy new screws for all the windows since he tossed them all into leaf beds). Clayton Grunns repeatedly - and there is no getting around this - lied to our faces; lied to us by text; lied to us on phone calls. He had 4 weeks to complete what he repeatedly characterized as a 2 day job (with a crew, which he never brought over), and the promises and assurances he made that he would complete the job increased with each day the contract's expiry approached. Again, this was willful deceit on the part of Clayton Grubbs, and prevented us from hiring someone else to complete the job within the time frame that it absolutely needed to be done within. The day before the contract expired, which was also the day which all work had to be completed to pass appraisal, Clayon Grubbs completely ghosted us. This was after multiple assurances(outright lies) that the work would be done on time. We ended up scraping and painting everything ourselves, having to take time off work and work until around midnight to complete everything. 9 days later, Clayton Grubbs texted saying there was "an emergency" and he "left his phone." For 9 days. He then refused to give any form of refund for the work he did not complete, saying, "I don't trust you to pay me for all the work I'm going to do." He wanted to "call it even." Under no circumstances should you hire Clayton Grubbs and Upstate Painting Solutions. Clayton is a liar and a cheat. He shows no regard for his customers or their concerns, does not communicate, and will take your money and run. If I could give negative stars I would, a simple 1 will suffice.

I wasn't ready to even sign a contract on the home without knowing that the house could be completely repainted (every room and closet, might I add) quickly and efficiently. I did some research online and found Upstate Painting Solutions and I am forever grateful of their speedy services. Less than a week after my closing, they came out to start the job AND they were prompt, friendly, and didn't leave a mess behind. I am super impressed to say the least. I highly recommend this amazing company. 5 stars all the way!!!
