I've been a customer of AM services for 3 years getting snow removal and landscaping at two properties. But I would NOT recommend this company to anyone looking. I'll explain why.
As I stated above, I own two rental properties in Ypsilanti, that got snow removal and landscaping services. Over the past year, I had begun to notice lapses in service frequency (I don't live in Ypsi but would make frequent trips). It started off small, I would come by in the days after a large snowstorm after this brutal winter and the driveways wouldn't be plowed, I thought, "Hey, brutal winter they're slammed, they'll get to it". I would check in with tenants who would inform me that the driveway is still not plowed, yet, like clockwork I would be billed for multiple visits. I let it go, after all tenants, especially college aged tenants can be unreliable.
Cut to just this last month. I was growing suspicious after several of these plowing incidents and I wanted to be sure I was getting the landscaping service regularly. I set up to have the grass cut every 18 days. I informed my tenants of this new schedule. When I checked in with my tenant on June 30th, I was told "they just came to cut the grass and that's the first time they've been here since the Friday before Memorial Day." Yet, when my bill came, I was charged for 4 cuts at each property, with each service being performed exactly 18 days apart. Almost as if the billing was done automatically, regardless of any weather events (rainstorms?) that might have occurred on those days.
When I received the bill I called and asked to speak to the GM, when I brought this to his attention. He was clearly annoyed. First he informed me that the cuts had indeed been performed every 18 days, and that due to the rain, the grass had merely grown quickly. When I said that that may be true, but wouldn't the grass still be cut back every 18 days, and that if the growth was indeed that drastic wouldn't my tenants have noticed it when cut? He snapped back that "well when it gets that long we just cut it so its longer" which to me made no sense because again, 18 days later, the grass should have, at that point been cut down appropriately and again been noticeably shorter to anyone living there. Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but the GM's attitude on the phone really rubbed me the wrong way, especially since i've been with them 3 years and had multiple services with them. What happened next really set my BS meter off though.
The GM simply said "Well, we'll refund you for two cuts and we no longer want to do business with you"!!! I mean OK that's certainly your right, but I am a paying customer who pays on time each service as they have my cc info on file, and have been with them multiple years, on multiple properties, having multiple services performed. I've never called to complain about this before, and If I owned a business, I would want to keep all the customers I could. Unless the economy in SW MI has changed drastically for the better...
I would be interested in hearing from the GM's boss or any other customers who have had similar questions about the quality of service and if they have actually received services they paid for. In the meantime, avoid this company at all costs, there are major red flags here. read more
