The teachers are very helpful and keep in contact. I've never had an easier time communicating with my son's teachers. The school really emphasizes responsibility and accountability. The after school care is also very nice. They have many different clubs that your child can sign up for ranging from computer club to cooking club. Another little bonus is the school is always clean and well landscaped. If you are looking for an elementary school you would like to be near this is the one!

I looked all over the Charleston area for a daycare for my 14 month old son. I was terrified…read morebecause he had never been in a daycare before and I had been a stay at home mom, nervous to let anyone watch him because I knew no one would care for him like I do. I looked at a bunch of daycares where all the teachers seemed tired and miserable and lethargic. Some of them wouldn't even respond to me when I said hello. I've seen playgrounds with broken toys that could hurt the children. I've seen classrooms full of kids with snot all over their faces that led me to believe the teachers refused to wipe their noses and in turn giving way to a vicious cycle of sick children. Then I found the Sunshine House in Mount Pleasant. Everyone was warm and welcoming, the kids were happy, the toys were unbroken and age appropriate, and Ms. Jane Anne had a kid in her lap and was wiping his nose! My son who is very clingy was anxious to squirm out of my arms and play on the playground and I instantly felt that he would be safe and cared for here. It's not conveniently located for me, but it's worth the extra drive for a daycare that exceeded my expectations. They even provide free diapers and wipes as well as breakfast, lunch, and snack. They also have flexible schedules so I can gradually increase his time there until I find a job. So happy I found the sunshine house!

My kid had a very bad incident at this daycare while teachers were distracted changing another child's diaper on a changing table. During this time, my child was unsupervised. The director Afton later called me and fabricated an incident report. Thankfully, a teacher reached out to me privately after hearing the false story and told me what actually happened, confirming the director's account was untrue. This facility is extremely understaffed, poorly supervised, and dishonest when serious incidents occur. While some of the teachers genuinely care, the director is a liar, and that alone makes this place unsafe. If you want your child in a safe, well-supervised environment, rethink enrolling them here

But after not even a whole week, they wasted dozens of ounces of breast milk and had even went over 6 hours without feeding my daughter on more than one occasion. The neglect and abuse was appalling and the relatively high rating this establishment has achieved is insane- I just hope such awful supervision and care isn't going unnoticed by other parents. Not to mention they continued to deduct money from my account after our daughter was taken out, and it was double the normal amount. Absolutely criminal!
