I love food and all of oil's and it was definitely something I was looking for to buy in my trip to Paris. They have a fine selection of olive oil's - some for cooking, some for drizzling and some for dipping. I also got some dips and sweet sauces and a selection of delicious balsamic vinegar's. The gentleman helping me was knowledgeable, friendly and even bagged all of my groceries in this beautiful canvas bag and gave me some extra treats. Highly recommend! My first visit was for an hour-long hangout with friends, and we had a hell of a time finding a place to sit down while we got a coffee or snack. We went up and down the escalator scouting things out, but almost every spot with seating was overrun on a Saturday afternoon. We ended up at an okay pan-Asian spot called Rice Street between lunch and dinner service, getting boba and sheltering from the chaos. I went two days in a row on my more recent trip to Paris, first for a Glace BACHIR pop-up, and then to get an easy on-the-go lunch before getting sucked into the broader maw of the main Galeries Lafayette. It was crowded both days, the ground floor crawling with people. Both the ice cream and my sandwich, from Chez Meunier, were delicious. I haven't quite figured out Galeries Lafayette Gourmet, but it's a worthwhile destination if you want to run around trying pastries and chocolates and other French delectables. The bar is full of Corsican wines, excellent sausage (some of the best), cheese. Pick your bottle from the shelf and pay a small corkage fee. Corsican whites are generally quite mineral, fresh and slightly salty (due to the island influence). They are a perfect match with sausage because the acid cuts through the fat nicely. They also have a range of wines by the glass but getting a bottle is far more social. The reds are juicy and spiced so again perfect with sausage. It's a non-debatable topic: you must get the mixed cheese and charcuterie plate. Its generous and so, so good. As I said above, it was some of the best sausage I had the whole time I was in France. And the whole shop smells of it too so it's impossible not to be hungry. Unless you are vegetarian- then maybe stick with the cheese.
