Hello, I am writing to you to let you know of an experience my husband just had yesterday in one of…read moreyour stores. I think it's important you know about this so it does not happen again. My husband went into the Chemist discount centre on pier street Altona 3018 yesterday. He enquired about getting some sort of medicated cream for his hands that had developed chilblains from the cold. He was served by an older lady of the staff there who helped him find a cream. After looking at the cream my husband decided that it was not going to help his condition after all and put it back on the shelf. A younger member of staff saw him do this. As he went to leave, the older lady started yelling across the store and ran after him causing everyone in the store to stop what they were doing and look. She angrily accused my husband of not having paid for the cream and demanded he empty his pockets right there. My husband professed his innocence and that he had placed the cream back on the shelf as it wasn't what he thought he needed. She did not believe him and was still angrily accusing him and being aggressive. Making a huge scene as people looked on. He told her to look at the camera footage and call the police if she was convinced as he had done nothing wrong. She still demands to see his pockets at which time my husband refused as he was beyond insulted. The younger employee came to his defence and confirmed she saw him put it back. All the older employee said was , oh ok, that's it.no sorry or apology for the accusation.To summarise my husband who is a local will never return to chemist discount centre on pier street because he has been publicly embarrassed and humiliated in front of all the other customers and when proven wrong they were not apologetic at all. Also the manager/supervisor watched on and did nothing and stayed silent the whole time. My husband is not a thief! He is a good person.Shame on you chemist discount centre. Absolutely awful My husband will not return, I will not return and we will be telling our local Altona friends about the experience that left him shaken. I'm honestly disgusted by his treatment there by the staff although well done to the younger female staff member who helped him in that moment. I guess my point of this is you need to do better. Don't stereotype people and humiliate them horribly when they are actually innocent. Check your cameras if you have to. Do better.

As a…read morechild who was a bit of an aeroplane nut about 25 years ago, I had a subscription to a small British magazine through them (remember that a quarter of a century ago, it was pretty hard to get much niche stuff up until the dawn of the internet), and every week I'd go down to the store excitedly to pick it up. Although that was long ago, the fact that this news agent will do it's best to look after it's customers has not changed one iota. They are still really good with customers, and given the physical size of the shop, it's surprising that they manage to accommodate such an enormous range of newspapers and magazines. There's also a good selection of cards, paper and cardboard of different sizes (if you have kids who need to do projects for primary school, this place rocks). I make it a habit of grabbing my lotto tickets there whenever I do my shopping. In a nutshell, this shop is a good one if you're after anything news or stationery related.

It has a wide range of paper and cardboard as well as a decent selection of markers, pencils, stickers and similar items. The range of magazines and newspapers is extensive and the store is always well stocked with the latest. They even have the UK version of Cosmopolitan, which I've only ever found in the city newsagencies. Clearly this place has good connections. The service here is friendly and helpful. This can be frustrating at times when people in front are getting ten minutes worth of help while you jingle your exact change for the magazine in your hand. But, you just have to remember that they will help you just as much should you ever have the need. The store also stocks tatts tickets and scratchies. Check em out.
