Incredibly unprofessional! I booked a haircut & blow out. I have wavy to slightly curly hair. The hair stylist straight out told me she was unable to blow dry & style my hair because she did not know how to. Literally told me to go home and use my Dyson Airwrap (which I did). Had appointments scheduled days in advance and they cancelled on me twice in a row. I decided not to reschedule for a third time.

After receiving a horrible hair cut at "A Cut Ahead", I went to another salon to see what they could do. The hair tech said that my haircut was one of the worst she has ever seen. In order for them to fix my haircut, she had to trim more hair, which left me with a really short haircut. Its a good thing hair grows out. I'm really sad that my hair is this short. read more

I did this for a wedding and now I'm considering shaving my head. I would think when it comes to something permanent they would let someone who knew what they were doing. I have followed Carrie to a couple of salons because she is the best! She understands curly hair (she has it too) and is trained in the Deva technique. She listens to me and respects what I want (even with my super crazy quirks about the length of my bangs) and she wants her clients to be happy with their hair. She taught me some things about how to care for my curly hair that I have never heard or tried before and it's helped me a lot. She's really good with color too. Carrie is good with staying on time too which I respect. She is really funny, smart, talented and I just really appreciate her! I called for an appointment and they were able to schedule me the same week. The location was easy to find and I was greeted with a friendly smile. Michelle did my hair and she was ON POINT! I told her what I needed to have done, she asked a few questions to clarify that she understood my request, and she did an excellent job on my hair. Hair pricing was also very reasonable, you can always call ahead to get a quote. I was a little wary at first due to being a first time client, but I was very pleased with the outcome and more confident now with the staffs' professional abilities. Since I like to stay with a great hairstylist/hairdresser when I find one, I'll be returning for touch-ups. read more

I made an appointment on 3-15-2019 for sat 3-16-2019 with Carrie. Well Carrie text my phone waking me up at 5:24am on sat saying she got a nasty stomach bug on Friday and can't make my appointment. So I called bs because no one in their right mind would be texting anyone at this time of morning if you were sick the day before. Someone should have called me on Friday so I could have found someone else to do my hair. Now all my plans are ruined and the day can't be fixed. Stop going out the night before if you have early appts. Too much green beer will make you sick!!!! I do not recommend this place or Carrie. Probably a bad hair dresser anyways! I'm here on vacation and found this Salon on Yelp. Wanted to treat myself to getting my hair done and it was time also. I was in need of highlights and a cut very bad. Carrie did the BEST JOB!! The blonde highlights is the best I've had in a long time. Came out beautiful bright and blonde all over not just my roots. Stylist didn't listen to what I wanted to have done. I scheduled for a DevaCurl cut and lowlights foil. Additionally I wanted to donate my hair which would have equaled well over 12 inches. My hair was below my waist. She banded my hair at shoulder length and cut roughly ten inches. 1. I asked for dimensional color with 'lowlights' foiled throughout my natural hair color. See link if unfamiliar with the term. http://www.totalbeauty.com/content/slideshows/hair-highlight-ideas/page3 Received: All over color (no natural color left) with 2 similar hues one stacked on top of the other at the crown and base of my hair, bizarrely enough she still managed to do this with foils. I was charged for both applications (expected) and some ambiguous charge called a "touch-up" this is unclear because when you get all of your hair dyed this will ALWAYS include the roots so I'm unsure how this applies...I didn't ask for all-over color in the first place, just lowlight foils; the receipt was not itemized so who knows about that charge... 2. Asked for a DevaCurl cut. Received: an unfinished traditional wet cut. This may have been due to her next appointment arriving and she felt rushed to finish my cut and style. She made some comment about loving the length and aborted the cut early. 3. Dyed first then cut second. I payed for roughly 4-5 inches of dyed hair that got cut and thrown away. Additionally she had to mix extra color. 4. She dyed my face. For what ended up being over $200 (with product and tip) for a hair appointment, this is unacceptable and a rather amateur mistake. In hind sight I would have been better off going to a franchise where if the stylist didn't listen to me I would have only spent $80-$125 at the most (with tip and product) to include taking AND sending out my hair donation. read more

I went to a different salon for a trim, they ended up cutting off way to many inches from my extremely curly hair, and not evenly. It was awful and I was distressed. I looked up salons that specialize in curly hair and this one popped up. Carrie was wonderful and right away I could tell she was doing something different with my hair. I've been going to A Cut Ahead hair salon for about 7 years now and absolutely love my stylist, Laurie Goode. She's also the owner of this lovely salon and runs a tight ship and has high standards for all of her stylists. I can personally attest that Laurie does an excellent job with cutting and styling thin, fine hair on women, and she is an outstanding colorist as well. Their prices are pretty standard for the Colorado Springs area, and I'm willing to bet their prices are not as ridiculous as some of the other more expensive salons in town. As we've moved to another state about a year ago, but we still come back to the Spring about 4 or 5 times each year, I always try to book my color and cut appointments with Laurie whenever I can. A Cut Ahead is my go-to salon in Colorado Springs. I have since moved away and have not yet found a salon that is anywhere near as warm, welcoming and full of talented people. I try to visit whenever I'm in town. You can't really go wrong with any of the stylists, but Haleigh always gave me an incredible cut, and I recently had my hair dyed by Michelle and she did an excellent job.
