We had NINE giant pine trees in our yard and we wanted them removed. The estimator came and gave me a quote and I told him to go ahead and put us on the schedule. A few weeks later they contacted me and said they had an opening and could come do the job. The crew showed up and worked like a well tuned machine. Within a couple of hours three or four of the trees were gone. After a few more hours they had eight of them down and David rolled the crane into the cramped back yard and carefully brought down the final tree. This was done on a Friday and his crew stayed until nearly 7pm and when they left everything was cleaned up and looked awesome! If you need trees removed or trimmed these guys do a kick ass job! But when the cut what I thought was a large limb and brought it down it was a tree in itself! Price was very fair. We did not have a positive experience at all with A Cut Above. I want to clarify that our experience is based solely on trying to get an appointment for a quote to have a few trees removed. We had two no-show appointments, and after the second no-show, we never even heard from them again to try to schedule another appointment or offer some concession for the inconvenience. Untrustworthy. Said they were on their way to do the job (a 5k job), I took off work that day. They stated "be out there at 10 am", little later in day they called and said the crane was 'broke', only to find facebook posts of that crane heading the south jacksonville to help with storm relief. That's fine, but please state your intentions and not lie to get out of a job to go where the money is. You left me and my neighbors hanging. I canceled the job. read more

We had two very large oak trees in our yard that we wanted to take down. When I say large, I mean huge. Fearing that a hurricane could destroy our home if the trees fell victims to the storm we made the decision to have them removed. We got estimates from several companies. When this company came out and explained how they would take down the trees, etc. we knew that they would get the job. I helped also that they were less expensive than our other estimates. We scheduled a date and time for them to do the work. We were told they would be at our place close to noon to start the work. At 11:30 they pulled their equipment up along our property and 7-8 workers began to set up all the equipment. There was a crane, 2 monster chippers, a huge stump grinder, a bucket truck, a bobcat, several trailers, and a large dump truck. They left to get lunch and was back in 30 minutes. Two crews started to work, one in the back yard with the bucket truck and one in the front with the crane. The climber (by the way, no matter how much money he is paid, he needs a raise) began their work. The trees were taken down and lifted to the ground as was promised. The crews laid out boards for the heavy equipment to move on and when they were finished there were no holes or tracks in our lawn. The huge tree limbs were chipped and the tree trunks were cut into short sections and loaded onto the dump truck. I cannot even begin to tell you how amazed we were just watching the whole operation. Every one of the workers were professional and most of them could handle each others jobs. When they left after 9-10 hours of work(over a 2 day period) our yard was clean, the driveways and street in front of the house was cleared of any loose sticks, sawdust, etc. This work was not cheap but they were here for a short amount of time and did a fantastic job. I used this tree service 8/28/18. The reason I called this tree service is because for years I had seen their vehicles around town. I decided to let them and two other companies quote the job. Their price was the best, but I also felt good about the person, David who came to give me the quote. David explained to me what was involved and the qualifications of his staff. I was very pleased with the way things were done. There was great care taken during the whole process and that was very important to me. There was also a very unique team effort that I noticed. It was really amazing to watch. While the crane operator and the tree climber were working together using radio communication, the other 4 people were taking care of the debris. Again, everyone worked extremely hard and also worked well together. You could tell they have been doing this for a very, very long time. I am a process person and believe in efficiency and safety. I honestly was amazed how these people worked so well together. I intend to use them in the future if I have work that needs to be done and I will absolutely recommend them to other people who need a tree service. read more

All of us here in Pensacola know the problems we have with these giant water oaks. Being one of the heaviest trees in the US, they are also extremely dangerous. There have been tragic losses in our area over the years suffered by these brave tree climbers who perform one of the most dangerous jobs there is. It is for this reason and the size of my tree, that I needed a company who practiced safety first, and cost second was my concern. I had an oak tree in my back yard over 100 foot tall. Two of its limbs extended over my roof--and each alone was the size of a large tree. My neighbors would often say my tree looked like Disney's Tree of Life as it was easily far higher than any other tree in the neighborhood. I called the largest company's from all around for estimates. A cut above tree service came out far ahead of all others because of their assurance in safety which their professional representative came out and clearly explained. Because they are one of the rare tree company's that own their own crane, the representative was able to lay out the planning on the spot and how the coordination would go---this was a Big Big Job ! They also were able to beat all others by almost two thousand dollars because they own all their own equipment--I never realized how big of a factor that is. When they said all would be done in ONE DAY--I said Impossible ! None of the others said that ! Most said up to one week. When they showed up, they mobilized all equipment like some trained military unit. I watched their lead tree climber in amazement as he climbed the tree like some trained ninja that day. By 1PM--more than half the tree was gone, with the crane lifting each piece over my roof and into the front yard to be cut up and shredded. There was no access to the back yard for the crane, so all had to be taken over the roof which made the job that much more dangerous. Well, I would have lost money if I had bet, but by 5 PM only the giant stump which was so large, it looked like a small house could sit on it-remained. Then they brought out this high tech remote controlled grinder from hell which I had never seen before, and it made mince meat out of the stump in no time--amazing to watch ! Then they broke out the landscaping equipment, rakes, blowers--you name it, and cleaned everything honestly better than it was before they came. The only wood chips I could find in the entire yard was around the now ground to nothing tree stump as some (now mulch) is needed to keep the area level with yard where there was a tree. Its like I got free yard work done as well. Nothing remained--even the roof was cleaner than ever before as they cleaned it as well. I did my homework before I picked this company--but in no way would I have ever expected such high level of professionalism. If you have a giant dangerous tree, need it down quick at the best price out there--then there is ONLY ONE Company in existence around here who can do it Safe, at an Affordable Price, and QUICK--and that is "A Cut Above Tree Service !"
