She loves…read morecombining different patterns and colors and it's always a safe bet when I need to buy her a gift. It remains special though, and it's such a fun thing to do! I saw Tabio on the 7th floor at Hysan from the corner of my eye. It's a little hidden and it shares the space with a shoe store, C.P.U. I had never been to this place, but they have around 6 outlets around Hong Kong. Tabio basically sells Japanese designed socks. Yeah, it's all about socks, in all forms, colors and patterns. And not only for girls, there's some for kids and men. In fact, it was the men's section that grabbed my attention, such cute-elegant socks! The range is wider for women and I couldn't choose which one I liked most. They have different shapes for different shoes: knee high, ankle high, for sandals, sports shoes, leg-warmer (which I hadn't seen in any store for a long time!), and leggings and prices are around 40 to 60 HKD. And it gets even more creative for kids; they have everything you can think of for the little ones! Unfortunately I couldn't find the tights I had in mind...but I decided it was time to introduce some change in my mum's collection and bought her a pair of ankle high socks. Staff were friendly and helpful, and quick to provide you with a basket to hold your goods the moment you had an item in hand. There was no wait for dressing rooms when we were there in the late morning either. Uniqlo's clothes are always high quality and great value for money, and the selection in this store certainly proved that to be true as well.

For the most part, there are different styles of clothes on the different racks. They organized their clothes by color and the type of clothing, so white tops were on one rack, black bottoms were below, etc. Usually there are just one size, which they call "free size." Once you find something you like you have to tell the lady you want it so she can radio it in on the headset so she can bring you a brand new one that is still in the plastic package. I kind of like this concept because you know you are getting a brand new item to take home, one that doesn't have everyone's nasty oils on it. :P They also have a clearance section. If you thought you'd be overwhelmed with the main part of the store, just wait until you go to the clearance section! This is overwhelming..lots of clothes everywhere that's only organized by type like tops and bottoms. They also have accessories throughout the store like cute hats, handbags, wallets and jewelry. They have a very small shoe selection as well. When we went they had a promotion that if you spent over a certain amount you could get a free glass Tupperware! We spent over the amount and got it, but was too heavy to carry around to the other countries we were visiting so we left it with our cousin in HK. I thought that was a really cool promotion!

Since I found out about the lingerie paradise on the sixth floor of Hysan place, I had ignored the…read morerest of the shops and go directly there. But, I had noticed Deicy every time, I just wasn't there for clothes shopping and had never had a look until recently, as I am looking for a (rather formal) dress! I wasn't sure that way the place for me though (it looked too cute from outside...?). The boutique is inviting, with its bedroom like look; there is a big bed in the center, at the end of the space. It's very ample and it clothes are displayed all around it. When I got there last week they still have some items on sale and new arrivals were at the entrance and the shop window. The style is definitely 'girly'. Or as they call it...'girlish rock', but the first element has a heavier weight in my opinion. Short waist fit dresses, lace, waist high shorts, light colors, flower and spots fabrics, tight collars, bows...are present in more or less every piece of clothing. They carry two brands: deicy and me&me couture, but I wouldn't tell the difference. The style is still very similar among all pieces. What I like the most though were the shoes. The shop was fairly quiet and the shop assistant helped me find a few dresses, but none of them seem a fit for the occasion, so I decided to have a look at other shelves while I found an excuse to buy something for a more casual time...! It's definitely a shop worth checking if you happen to be at Hysan, but do it at sales as it's a bit too pricey.

Unlike its more expensive counterparts, they stock a range of goods made in China, which are significantly cheaper. The range of products is good, with plenty of furniture options; tables, chairs, "sofa" seating, umbrellas, and accessories; storage units, torches, lighting. And as mentioned, these products are cheaper, being made locally, but borrow heavily from the expensive "genuine" designers. Unfortunately, with the price comes with a lesser quality, and no product protection in terms of warranties. However, like their genuine counterparts, you can still choose a number of custom options, like base materials and fabric colours. The customisations are also made locally, so tend to be a bit quicker, turning around in 2-3 weeks. What I liked the most about Patio Mart was Raymond, one of the sales staff (possibly manager?). He was very knowledgeable about his products, and also refreshingly honest about them. If it's a Chinese made product with no warranty, he is up front about it straight away. He is also knowledgeable beyond just his stock, dispensing great advice about legalities of using their products on roof terraces and in gardens, and advising when and how structures should be dismantled and stored in the event of a typhoon. There were even products he refused to sell, knowing that they would be illegally erected. The store is a little cluttered, but there are plenty of products on display for you to try. Definitely worth it for some of the smaller accessory and/or furniture items. For the big ticket items, you may want to pay a bit more for a better quality product.
