I agree that the place is clean...but there are other issues that I noticed.
(Here is what I experienced and my opinion of what might be causing it.)
First of all, we have been there over a dozen times. I will break this review down into a couple areas. First talking about the air quality, then going into customer service (including our really, really bad experience with Nicholas). I will cover what it was like when we first started going there last May, cover our experiences there over the summer, and tell you what happened 2 days ago.
Air quality:
In the beginning, the inside was great--clean and fresh-smelling. But, something appears to be wrong with their ventilation system now. For the last month and a half, or so, we have not been able to eat inside because the air is filled with grease.
This is not the normal greasy-air smell that you get in a fast-food restaurant. It is something much more severe than that. What we experienced is an extensive, lung-filling cloud of vaporized grease that waves over us the moment we step inside the doorway. The first time it happened, we opened the door and several members of our family started coughing and gagging for breath, one said she was going to be sick from the smell....we exited immediately and opted to go though the drive-thru instead. We assumed it was a one-time issue...but the restaurant has been that way inside every time that we have gone there now for the last month and a half, or so. Each time we open the door, get hit in the face with a cloud of vaporized grease, and turn around and leave. If it is affecting us this badly in a matter of seconds of being in there, I have real concerns about the potential health affects upon the employees who are forced to breathe it in for hours at a time.
Now---about customer service:
The very first time we went (through the drive-thru in May) we were treated horribly. Seriously bad customer service. Not helpful. The guy was downright mean.
We went back again--the next time we ate inside. Totally different experience--great customer service, clean lobby, good food. Everything was great. Between the beginning of June and the beginning of July, we ate inside another 6 or so times, and had an wonderful experience each time. Love those daily specials!
During that same time period, and up till 2 days ago (this is mid-August) we were also treated well at the drive-thru, but they almost always got our order wrong. I think we were missing something from our order every time but once--generally a side was missing, or (most often) they forgot to include the cookie for the $5 fill up meal.
Now, to our worst experience there ever: we went 2 nights ago. Couldn't go in because of the grease vapor (tried once again and had to turn around and exit immediately). Went through drive-thru where Nicholas gave us one of the worst customer service experiences ever. Rude. Condescending. Clearly wasn't listening. Kept getting our order wrong over the loud-speaker. At the window, the girl working there was nice, but didn't give us our drinks, straws, silverware, napkins....passed out the food and forgot about us. Most of the food was good, but the chicken nuggets they gave us were dried out and rubbery--clearly they were old and had been sitting around a LONG time.
Doubt we will be going back. Think it is time to finally give up on this place. It's too bad because in this rural area, there aren't very many restaurants around to chose from. read more
