We will definitely make this part of our regular grocery shopping. This is the beginning of the season, which means that many food items are just now becoming available. In spite of this, we were impressed by the selection of herbs and vegetables as we strolled through the modern and well-maintained greenhouses. I picked up some fresh-off-the-vine kale/mustard leaves/radishes. The kale is one of three varieties this season, the mustard leaves are very spicy and I have yet to try the radishes. I am looking forward to some of the other plants I saw growing, like purple carrots (not the ubiquitous, man-made orange variety in grocery stores), onions, tomatoes, etc. Beyond the vegetables, the main building has fresh eggs (chicken and duck), humanely raised meats and plenty of other things we will be trying. The meat and egg prices seem a bit higher than grocery stores, but I think the quality is probably superior and the money stays local, which I prefer. You also get a small discount for bringing back egg cartons, whether they are from the Broad Run or not. The farm itself is just a beautiful, relaxing setting. There is a pond as well as many flowers and animals to admire.

It also makes it inconvenient to move all of our cars out of our own driveway so early in the morning just to accommodate their schedule. Lost trust in this company early on.

Working with Vinnie was easy and his design recommendations turned our unusable backyard into a raised bed garden, a fire pit, and a series of terraces with built-in steps. He also recommended someone to build a Pergola over the raised bed garden for a very reasonable price. Vinnie was on the job site almost every day and he was always professional. We were having issues with drainage and our yard was slowly tilting off into a gully that runs behind our property. Vinnie spoke to us about how to solve that problem and our vision for the yard. He came back about a week later with a drawn out plan that added two low retaining walls that were designed to be functional and attractive to our neighbor's view. Each wall has planting beds above and below to allow plants to soften the walls. Large rocks were installed at one end of the long yard to create interest, a seating area, and a flower garden. A beautiful stone wall was constructed along the path that leads from the front yard around the side of the house to the back. Underground drainage was put in to carry water away from the house and prevent any future erosion issues. Finished project is getting rave reviews. The stacked stone wall, small waterfall project he did for us 15 years ago at our other house still works and looks great. Some bottom lines: 1) this work isn't real cheap, but it increases the enjoyment of your house while you live there and the value when you sell.
