Tim was an absolute life saver!! he dropped everything to come to my rescue and save my day. I really couldn't appreciate him more. He had me out of trouble in less than five minutes. Thank you so much Tim for your help. It was truly appreciated and your customer service did not go unnoticed! read more

Do not ever do business with Tim (or A1 firewood). He promised delivery three times and never showed up. I had to call and text repeatedly just to get him to communicate. I prepaid which was a HUGE mistake. Finally after three weeks and the three missed deliveries he called and said he would be here in an hour. He told me it was not Ash, which is what I had ordered, but was going to be a mix of hardwoods, which I accepted because I was sick of dealing with him. He showed up and not only was it not Ash, but it was only a half cord (I ordered and paid for a cord). Instead of just charging me for half of what I had paid him, he wanted to up charge me because it costs more to deliver a half cord... That is when I told him to leave and refund my money, which took another 5 days to get back. read more

I called A-1 looking for 2 cords of dry hardwood that needed to be cut to 13-14" and spoke to Tim Moreau. He assured me he could deliver dry (mostly ash) cut to my specific length requirement. We agreed on a price, which was a significant premium over what he was offering in his advertising; because it would take extra labor to cut my length and again assured it would be dry. Upon delivery I found about 10% of the wood to be in excess of 14" which will require recutting to fit in my stove. The worst part of everything is that the wood is wet.... On day one, even the smallest re-split pieces would not light. The wood was immediately stacked inside and now a few weeks later all of it is still too wet to burn. Shame on Tim Moreau. I would discourage anyone from dealing with him. read more

Nice guy, delivered great wood with no issues. Nice to work with and quality product.

I had asked for 2 chords of seasoned firewood at 19", Tim said he could deliver. When he dropped the wood off I used a hygrometer on the wood and didn't tell him the results, which were for 3 different pieces, 2 at 18% and 25%. He asked if they were in the 20-25% range (which is not seasoned), I said no, they are about 18%, as I figured the one high number was an anomaly, I did ask him if this was seasoned wood, why would he ask me if it was in that range? When it came time to stack about half the load was 14" and under, additionally the load was short. I made him aware of this, he told me they were end pieces so I sent him pictures, which proved they were not. So he apologized for the mistake and said he would deliver half a cord more and cashed the check later that day. I let a week go by and he didn't deliver the rest of the wood, so I asked if he had intentions to drop it off this week, he replied: is your rack full? I let him know that it was not full and that I was irritated that he acknowledged his mistakes and already agreed to drop off more wood. I have pictures and texts to confirm these statements and will share willingly upon request. This was my second time ordering wood from Tim, despite being shorted the first time. I will not be using his services any longer and encourage anyone that needs to order through A-1 that they measure the load and test for moisture content. Edited 10/1/2024: I posted this same exact review on A-1 (Tim Moreau's) Facebook page and he not only doubled down, he tripled down and began insulting me. So for due diligence I posted the entire exchange, you can see the pictures attached. Also ongoing investigation with the NH Division of Weights and Measures, will try to update when it is complete. Don't take my word for it, take his. read more

Does not deliver when he says he will. Called when he did not show up and he said he would deliver the following week. Never showed up or called. Definitely would not recommend! read more

Emery is so helpful and nice. We get camp wood from him every year and he is very reasonable. His kindness sells his business over others if you ask me. I need the fire wood for last minute vacation and they came through. Friendly service, and prompt. Even on an august Friday!!

Great guys and close by. Tim Moreau retuned every call and delivered perfectly. Ssh and maple. Cut to size. Already in the fire. Dry, seasoned wood. Burns evenly and lit right away. Worth every penny. Will use again. I recommend A-1 Firewood. Thanks guys. read more

Tim (Moreau - owner) promised delivery a number of times that never happened for weeks. Machinery issues, then looking to add another delivery before coming to deliver - candidly don't waste your time. Now reading other reviews, it seems I'm not alone. I'm so done with the excuses and lack of commitment to have the courtesy to be honest about what is really happening. read more

I wish I could give ZERO stars cause I would!!! When we bought our home, we didn't have time to log the land and prepare for winter, so we had to call and order. I saw the signs everywhere so we called to try to get some hard wood delivered. It was a NIGHTMARE from the beginning and of course that should have been a red flag right away!!! Getting ahold of this man was hard, I placed an order for two cords. He called a few days later about 7pm and said he was on his way but didn't show up for an hour, I called and again no answer - he called back half hour later to say he would be there tomorrow instead. Um... ok. Then he comes the next day and drops one cord and 1/4 of soft mixed wood and wood chips!!!! My husband was PISSED as you could tell before it even stacked that it was JUNK!!!!!!! I asked around after my experience, hoping I was the only one who felt the spew of complete bullsh*t from this man's mouth and lacking business mannerisms, but it's common knowledge he has a reputation for being a crook!!!!! My husband called after stacking it and again had a hard time trying to get him on the phone. But when he did he played dumb to the fact that he shorted us wood and didn't want to make it right until my husband blew a verbal gasket. Took him again a few days to come back and drop off what was owed, even though once again it wasn't hard wood. So, I truly feel he hopes that people buying wood are dumb and inexperienced enough not to catch his scheme. I would NEVER buy from him again and NEVER would suggest this joke of a business to ANYONE that heats their home with wood!!! He is a very untrustworthy and unreliable person - STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!! He will lie and say he hasn't done business with anyone who leaves a bad review, but he's made the reputation for himself of being a crook...I was amazed, but FB is full of the stories from locals whom he burned and will now not do business with him. He's a racist, unprofessional, and dishonest nutcase. Check out any FB forum for the town's he services, full of hardworking citizens with nothing bad but experiences. read more

Update: Indeed I was a customer and not a competitor. It shows what kind of businessperson someone is when they denied doing business with someone rather than calling their client and making things right. read more

never would they return my phone calls, nor emails, nor Facebook messages.....all through 2022, I could not get them to respond to my frequent requests as a potential new customer for firewood delivery to my cottage in Alton.....I was going to be a new customer because a friend of mine local to Alton , NH recommended them......so what has happened ? Are they no longer in business ? if they are still in business, they won't be getting mine ! read more

Great price, prompt call back after leaving initial message. Delivered as promised- clean dry cord wood, will definitely use again! Tim was great to deal with ! read more

I don't know about the other reviews, but all of my deliveries came on time (even early this time but that was my mistake) the wood was all seasoned and burned beautifully and kept our house nice and warm, we had contacts others prior to getting wood from them and got the run around a few months back, but my experience thus far has been nothing but perfect all the way around! read more

called this guy so many times that I lost count. I would leave messages that wouldn't get returned or the mailbox would be full. Finally, after a few weeks of this, I get a return call. He told me he was 2 weeks out, which was actually perfect since I was leaving for vacation, so we set a date. That day came...no call, no show. I call several times and get same results as above. He finally answers the phone and tells me ran out of time and that he would be there the next day. next day...same thing. no call, no show. I left another message and still have yet to get a call back. Take your business elsewhere. read more

Just had what looks like a short volume delivery from "A-1" Paid $575.00 for 2 cords of green wood that was almost 4 hours late because of "mechanical" issues on their end...still got shorted...was told they would make it right...we'll see read more

Thank you A-1 Firewood you made it on time as scheduled. We had no heat , propane issues and you saved us thanks again!!

Do not use this company. They did not deliver wood on the date agreed upon (and then only after daily calls from me even though I prepaid the previous month). The wood was still green and wet even though I paid a premium for seasoned wood. After I stacked it, he shorted me almost a half cord on a three cord order. Do not use this company. read more

Very unreliable and more expensive than other options. I called and made an appointment for delivery of firewood----said he would call back and confirm time. Never called so I called back and was told that it would sometime after 1pm. Waited all afternoon but he never showed. Called the next day and left a message ----same thing, no call and no show. On the first call I was told to leave a check in an envelope tacked to the garage door, Happily I did not do that as the check could have disappeared and still no wood. I found another reliable option in the area who was considerably less expensive and delivered the seasoned firewood on time as promised. Forget A-1 read more

Great guy to do business with. Yes, he can be hard to get a hold of, because he is one of the hardest working guys I know!!! VERY happy with the whole experience. read more

You have to be persistent with Tim because his organizational methods are subpar, but once he delivers he brings a good product at a fair price. We have been customer of his for 2 years and just got a cord of nicely seasoned firewood delivered before the blizzard in February. This is old time business dealing, so if you are not used to that you may get frustrated. Be patient, let him know your situation and you will get there. read more
