Every time except one I went to voice mail. I left a message each time, but received no call back. The one time I got a human was near the end of the day. He said he had to leave but would call me back the next morning. That was 2 weeks ago. No call. My service contract (which I cancelled this morning) was on a generator for my house. I live in Florida and it's now peak hurricane season. You would expect them to be particularly responsive now.

He then offers to take away my unit and waive the service call fee. Called Mitchell Appliance repair and he comes out and adds a small amount of freon to my unit and it hasn't given me a problem now for two years! These guys just wanted to take my unit, turn around and make a few hundred on it and have me purchase another for $800. I always believed in giving my business to the local businesses, but when they want to rip you off I will take my business elsewhere. Shame, because word of mouth can be a bitch. Update: Going on five years now and still never another issue with this refrigerator. Trust me on this, this was purely all a scam to get me out of my perfectly fine refrigerator and a huge profit for them. Proceed with caution!

So when I brought in 3 video tapes to transfer to digital, I expected the same level of excellence. When I dropped the videos off and asked for a quote, I am absolutely certain the guy told me $20 each. No doubt in my mind whatsoever. But when I picked them up today, the bill was just over $100. This guy insisted that he never told me $20, that's the price for 5 or more videos. He said it's $25 each plus $20 for the flash drive. He absolutely did not tell me about the extra $20 for the flash drive, either. (And how would I know there was even a $20 option if I hadn't heard it from him in the first place?) In the end he dropped the $20 for the flash drive, but I was still stuck paying a lot more than the $60 I expected. He bragged about how this Is still cheaper than some other options. But it's more than I was quoted and I'm feeling ripped off. I have a lot more videos to transfer to digital, but Star Tech will not be the ones to do it. Or anything else I need. If you need videos transferred to digital, check out capture.com where they'll do SD for $20 each plus $15 for the flash drive. Or go to imemories.com for $14.99 each and no charge for the digital drive. Just don't take them to Star Tech. If you do, be sure to get a signed, written estimate.

I called this company because I found them on Yelp and was very pleasantly surprised to find it is a mom and pop type jewelry store within the "Mall" at Lake City. They agreed to help me fix my watch immediately. I quickly drove there and the very friendly staff repaired my watch within 5 minutes! Plus, they literally only charged $10.00 for the repair, despite it being kind of an "emergency" thing and not possible for me to just leave it or wait around. I will definitely be using this jewelry store again and again! I am impressed that they do in-house repair. Plus, I asked if they do appraisals and they do...for a reasonable fee (using a certified gemologist). The jeweler I have previously used passed away and this will likely become my new go-to spot for repairs and possibly even some purchases. I definitely recommend this business.
