Freshly cooked today since they had just brought out the food for the start of lunch. Received great customer service at the checkout register. When in the mood for some Chinese, we normally visit the deli counter at the 99 Ranch Market. Reasonable prices and good portion sizes! read more

I stopped by 99 Ranch Market in Tukwila while visiting some friends and figured it was the perfect chance to check out their Asian produce. Parking was super easy, and even on a Saturday afternoon the line moved pretty quickly. The store is huge and packed with everything you could possibly need for Asian cooking--hot bean sauces, spices, noodles, snacks, ready‑made BBQ meats, hot entrées, fresh seafood, crab, a bakery, and even cookware like woks and steamers. They'll even clean and fry your fish for free, which is such a nice touch. I picked up some gai lan, bok choy, tofu, chives, bean sprouts, and Asian apples, and I grabbed a few items from their hot food bar to go. The whole Great Wall Mall area has a fun mix of spots too--Chinese restaurants, a pho place, a bakery, bubble tea shop, barber shop, and a cute little gift boutique. We love coming here. It has such a central and convenient location, ample parking, and wide breezeways. The store itself is quite large, and always has so many different kinds of produce and other Asian food and wares. I bought my ceramic frying pan here for $20 many years ago and I still have it in great condition. My kids always love visiting to seafood tanks because they have so many different types to choose from. And it's always so cool learning about different foods to try it home as well. The staff up front is courteous and efficient, and the lines are never too long. It's a very casual place to visit, so we can pretty much stop by whenever! read more

Shopping in Kent, Washington... Located in the Great Wall Mall, I decided to look for the 99 Ranch Market mini tote bags. They were sold out when I looked in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. These mini canvas totes went viral because they are fashioned after the Trader Joe's mini tote bags... and are reasonably priced, too! I browsed around the store because we don't have 99 Ranch Market in Hawaii. The produce, plants, bakery, live seafood, snacks, and other items were intriguing! I appreciated the clean, neat, air-conditioned environment! It wasn't crowded because it was early morning! I finally found some mini canvas totes, but there were only two colors. I was going to grab them all, but a young couple asked a clerk for more bags and... voila! All four colors were available! I made mental notes and hoped that I selected the right colors for my nieces and friends at home... yippee! Mission accomplished! read more

I was here recently and I must declare it is a great place to get groceries. I really like how nice this store is. Not very crowded and whatever I need to have a hot pot is here. The environment here is very nice. You can find everything you need in one trip. Selection here is impeccable. Everything from apples to expensive alcohol can be found here. Although prices are very high like other 99 ranches, it is still very worth it. I got a very nice crab here and the price was very reasonable. Store is very clean too. I saw nothing tough on the ground. The staff does a good job of making the customer experience an enjoyable one. Note: There is a lot of competition in the Asian store market for the Seattle area so please pick where to shop wisely. read more

I came here around 7:45 PM on a Friday. I don't visit often since I live far away, but I noticed the pricing was quite good! I bought two cans of quail eggs, each costing less than $2. I heard that 99 Ranch lowered its prices after T&T entered Washington, which is great for consumers--fair and competitive pricing is always a plus. The market was clean and well-organized, and checkout was efficient. Parking was easy, as there was a lot for the plaza. read more

I wandered in to kill some time while waiting for friends, and was so impressed with their recent face-lift. They modernized the whole store - all new fridges, self check-out lanes and manageable lines at cashiers, neat rows of fully stocked shelves, large hot food and bakery area, and even a hot pot ingredients corner! The wet market area at the back of the store has been cleaned up as well, and the butcher, fishmonger, and produce section looks and smells SO much better now. Prices are also decent, and their inventory of drinks and snacks almost rivals T&T. I will definitely be back! read more

We basically go here for one thing which is the roast duck. Which I guess says a lot about their roast duck as it's not as close to us as other options and not our go-to option for Asian foods and ingredients. When we go for the roast duck we do generally pick up a couple of things. I like to pick up musubi if they have it. The spouse will usually buy some noodles and tofu, maybe some veg. I have found their fruit to be subpar, though, and never buy it here. We haven't had much call to experience customer service besides once doing a pick up order and yes, as some have commented, it was chaotic. This is going to be quick, because there isn't a lot to say about this place. Personally, I like the store, the selection and pricing is fair. That said, I have two knocks and each knock is the reason this place have 3 stars and not 5. The parking here is terrible. Not only is the lot small, but rather than lean into a stereotype, I'll just say, anytime I'm here, it's the highest concentration of bad drivers in expensive cars. The last is the size, the place is small, but they pack a lot inside. My suggestion to them would be to find a larger footprint with ample parking. read more

Wow , I haven't visited this Ranch market since the summer. They have put in some new refrigerated cases and reorganized the store significantly. They expanded the bakery area & there are more display cases, all kinds of frozen goodies were on sale too. The cashier has no ability to deal with situation. I was lines up at Lane 6 for a while and when it got to the person infornt of me I noticed the lane stopped. The cashier Bairu just stood there staring at the screen. I asked what's going on, she says I dunno. I asked can you check people out, she says I dunno. I asked her if she can't check people out she need to divert traffic or turn off her light. She responded how is she supposed to know if the computer can be fixed. Large Chinese grocery store in the Renton/Kent area of WA. They carry all the typical types of food and home goods you'd expect in a normal grocery--produce, meats&fish, seasonings, frozen items, canned and dried goods, cookies and snacks, home goods, as well a small bakery and deli section. Located in the Great Wall mall, Ranch 99 conveniently shares a large (free) parking lot with other small Asian American businesses, mostly restaurants, a couple offices, a few bubble tea/drinks/snacks spots, a bakery and a couple furniture/decor shops. Small grocery carts are available for use, and plastic bags are charged by the bag to encourage bringing your own re-useable bag. The selection is ok, more than other local smaller mom and pop grocery stores, but less variety and slightly more expensive across all categories when compared to groceries in more heavily Asian-populated cities around LA, Vancouver, Toronto or NYC metro areas. Produce, meat and fish are decently fresh. During peak hours check out lines can be long, but usually no more than a 10 minute wait. They take credit cards and also have a senior discount on certain days. read more

One of my fave Asian stores, period. Is it the most organized and friendly grocery? No. Is it chaotic and a bit of a maze, like any legit Asian grocery should be? YES! This is the place you go to for your basics in Asian cooking. This is Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Filipino, and (limited) Korean cuisine. Also limited on the Indonesian and Indian. But you can generally stock up with basics for classic Asian flavors without too much hassle. Fish sauce? Check. Oyster sauce. Check. Sriracha. Check. Hoisin. Check. Dark soy sauce, light soy sauce, soup soy sauce. Check, check, check. Snacks on snacks on snacks? Check. Rice - DUH, check. Fresh produce - probably some of the best I've seen outside of a farmers' market? CHECK!!! All the hot pot goodies? CHECK!!! Tofu selection - I mean, all kinds. Soft, medium, fried, deep friend, firm. CHECK. Foods that'll make Andrew Zimmern squirm? Yep, check. (Talking about Durian lol) This is Uwajimaya's wiser and less frills older sibling. The prices are reasonable (except some of the snacks and ramen - super expensive.) I am not paying $8 bag for 4 pieces of salted egg fish skin (but trust I come close to adding to my cart every time). Lots of yummy food places outside the main grocery also. If you are a non-Asian person who hasn't been to a 99 Ranch or Asian store ever, be forewarned, you may get overstimulated and overwhelmed. But don't be afraid - come equipped with an Asian friend and you'll be fine! Or walk in there and just be confident like you know what you're there for, lol. I love this Asian supermarket because of their variety of products! Not only do they carry all the usual items, but they also stock unique and interesting products that you can't find in every Asian grocery store. For instance, I recently picked up a white rabbit chocolate-covered strawberry snack that was amazing and packaging was so cute lol. In addition to their diverse selection of products, this store also has a great produce, meats, baked goods, and a hot foods section. Whenever I'm bored, I love browsing around this store to see what new items they've added to their inventory because I find excitement in that haha. Another great thing about this supermarket is that parking is always easy since it's quite spacious. I always consider dining at expensive top end restos on a Mom-Dad getaway, but fortunately for me, my CEO is an earthy gal who leans as frugal as I do when dining out. Hence, I get to hit up an Asian deli for glorious roast duck, in a grocery market that would make coastal elites turn, run, and unclench their 1-star reviewing fingers (and they live here, haha). We never look for 'experience' meals that may--or may not--be as satisfying/satiating than what we love. Succinctly....we are both comfortable in each other's skin. Plus, she likes to chuckle at me when tears stream down my cheeks having duck west of the Cascades. Yes, even Asian grocery stores on this side do lightyears better than anything we have on the east side. But I'll take living where I do 10 times outta 10, despite a dearth of dear duck. I did consider ordering a whole one. But, then I realized that I could roll outta bed at 9AM and go grab a fresh half just down the street. Breakfast of champions, huh? Stopped into 99 Ranch Market for the first time today. I had loaded up on my essential Asian goods pretty heavily in the past few weeks, but I needed rice and I will take any excuse to try out a new (to me) Asian market. 99 Ranch is fairly large and had a great selection of the things you would typically look for in a market like this: housewares, sauces, rice, noodles, snacks galore, soy products etc. They also had a hot food bar which I just barely glanced at due to a large lunch at one of the Chinese restaurants in the shopping center. I was disappointed they didn't have more Mama rice noodle choices or GABA rice (back to Maruta Shoten!), but they did have some cool things I haven't seen before, like the portable pour over coffee bags in "Parisian" and "chicory coffee" (cafe du monde style). Service was just fine, and I am sure I will be back when I am in the area. read more

Great oriental market. I wish we have one just like that in Tampa. Is not that we don't have oriental market in Tampa, but we don't have one just like system they have with more inclusive offer for the grocery item. One thing I like the most is their fish station. They can scale it, fried it clean it the way you like. Basically they give you a ready fish. They can deep fried for you for small fees. I think it is worth the money. If you feel don't like to cook, just walk to the deli and BBQ section to order some ready cook food. They include the BBQ pork, roast duck, noodle to make your budget meal of the day. The veggies and fruit section have some strange looking tropical fruit. They are delicious. The bakery is loaded with oriental style bakery items. Great for breakfast. read more

99 Ranch Market reminds me so much of the King Street market in Honolulu, HI. So many interesting items, and yesterday the fish display seemed cleaner than I've ever seen it. Even the fish appeared cleaner and fresher. By the way, the live Dungeness crab (some missing a few claws &/or legs) were on sale for $6.99 per pound, which is a great price if one prefers to cook their own at home. For the uninitiated, the store seems to be separated into different departments what with one paying for items separately at the baking and prepared food counters, to include their great tasting roast duck & pork. Hanging behind a glass cage, the freshly cooked products look so tantalizing and the delicious aromas wafting through the area are dizzying. All other items are paid for at the cashiers located at the front of the store. In the past the freshly cooked lunch items were self-serve, but due to the COVID pandemic, a person behind the counter serves up your selections. Plastic sheeting has been installed fronting the dishes so access is taken away. Used to be one could pile a take out container as high as possible, as long as the lid could be closed. While living in Renton, 99 Ranch Market was my go-to place for noodles, sauces, fresh fish and Dungeness crab (they usually have the cheapest prices around for the crab). And the stock of Asian sauces are amazing. So much good stuff and once again the prices are great. read more

Ranch 99 used to make good Chinese bbq. Lately, it's been awful! The bbq duck was too gamey and had no taste. I had to throw it away after getting home. I got the super-dried duck. A waste of duck cost me $30+ tax. The bbq pork was a bit mushy (overcooked?) and also did not have much taste. My wife had to pan fry it and added some seasonings for flavor. I do not have much luck lately with Chinese bbq at Ranch 99 in Kent. If you know of a place please let me know. The regular bbq duck I got from Ranch 99 last year was mushy also. Too mushy when touching, like rotted bbq duck. So, I threw it away. At different times, you would think the place makes it better apparently not. I have most of the major Asian markets in my grocery rotation, deciding on where to go depending on what I need. 99 Ranch Market is my snack shop. I don't always buy weird veggie snacks, but this is by far the #1 place I've found to get them. As a store in general, I like the variety. Like a lot of the markets, they have a good selection of imported produce that I just can't find at a regular grocery store along with a TON of packaged import items. Great prices on a ton of the items I want to buy, while having some unique items that I don't really see at the other Asian markets. The only down side to this place is that the parking lot can get crazy quickly. When I go I like to get there a little before they open and back into a parking space near the back of the lot. Doesn't matter if I'm only in there for 10 min - the parking lot turns into a circus early on on the weekends and I don't even bother trying to come here after work! I have a love/hate relationship with this place. Some of the items is a little bit more pricey than the Viet-Wah in Renton Highland. The pricing of some items is inconsistent. I purchased some beef balls with plans to make pho for my family. Sale sign says it's $3.99 a package but I didn't notice it until I got home that they charged me full price for it. Lame. The live crabs is pretty decent, even though they're missing limbs. Just saw the price on it for $4.99/lbs. For the seafood section, you must take a number ticket and they would assist you in your seafood needs. Many people think that whoever has eye contact or be the loudest with the employees that they're first in line. *face palm* I love that they have many selections on a variety of balls for hot pot like fish tofu, fish balls, etc. The best for hot pot night! There's always a long line at the roast pork deli on the left side of the store. But my past experience has left me jaded, so I just bypass it now. PROS: Convenient. When I'm lazy to make the drive anywhere else this asian market does the trick! You can find a lot of the asian ingredients here from sauces, herbs, noodles etc. you name it! They also always have a big stock on the brown sugar boba ice cream bars! Usually they are always out so I'm lucky to always run into them when I come. Meat is fair not the greatest, def go for the seafood here though! CONS: 1 it's always packed & 2 veggies are almost always either gone or getting old. Everything is pretty clustered & could use some cleaning! Lines are ridiculously long too during this pandemic. So be prepared to wait in line, oh yeah don't forget to follow the arrows... if you have less than 5 items you can check out at customer service! 99 Ranch Market really doesn't get enough credit sometimes. It has a giant produce section. I have purchased live crabs and seafood numerous times. Before COVID, hubby used to love to overstuff a box full of food in the hot deli and eat it for 3 days. In the fresh bakery, their red bean pastry is actually one of the most plumb and well stuffed amongst all bakeries, and their buns are soft and tender (cream bun is my favorite). Their freezer section has numerous types of dumplings, and yes, I too bought boba ice cream popsicles this trip. I always find sauces and seasonings and the many types of noodles I desire. Their endcaps in the front have extra, new-to-me snacks and treats to lure me into buying more (always works). For what I need, they do a mighty fine job. I also find their prices to be competitive, and certainly lower than Uwa. I almost always go later in the day during the weekends. Typically, I don't encounter crowds by then. Coming anytime before 3pm during weekends can be very busy as shoppers come after lunch and buy their groceries for the week. Now that there are more competition in the area, 10 minutes away, who knows how things will change. Their inventory leans heavily towards Chinese, Taiwanese cuisine. There are Filipino seasonings and goods and a lesser amount of Korean and Japanese. One thing I wish they would not do is over-stuff their inventory and place boxes that widen the endcaps. It's quite difficult to navigate the shopping cart and make turns at the ends of every aisle. I've shopped here since they first opened. I suspect I will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. read more

We wandered into this place while waiting for some dumplings at mama's dough just down the way. This is a great store that is surrounded by some awesome restaurants! Walking around, we found about 95% of the things that we needed from an Asian grocery store. Being in the Seattle area, it's hard to measure up to Uwajimaya, but this place is a pretty solid. It has the standard, Legit, seafood section with plenty of live fish and other sea dwelling creatures for both your enjoyment and pleasure. The place is packed, at least on a Saturday afternoon, and has a good array of most of the fruits and vegetables as well as frozen items that you would expect from an Asian grocery store. They also unexpectedly had Balut - the Vietnamese snack with a partly formed chicken inside of it. It honestly is the one thing that I don't think I could eat, but apparently a good portion of the population in Vietnam enjoys them... It's nice to have options! The one thing they didn't have, and I'm not sure if they were simply out of it or actually didn't have it, was spicy chili crisp - a delightful spicy and crispy (duh) sauce that you may find yourself eating by the spoonful! They had a couple other sauce is made by the same manufacturer, so I imagine I simply got there too late. There are lots of other options though! They had an incredible mochi selection as well as plenty of good desserts. The kids in our house appreciated those! All in all, this place is really solid. If you find yourself grabbing food nearby, it's definitely worth getting sad food to go and hopping into this place to check it out for a couple minutes! read more
