OK so BOB FM plays a nice mix of music from the 80's-00's and it is on a preset dial in my car but the real reason I am yelping them is their almost Free Fridays promotion. Every Friday they offer gift certificates to stores and restaurants around town at ridiculously low prices . As I type this they are offering $50 Gift Certificates to Schlomo's and Vito's or Sam Hughes Place for only $25! You can buy 4 of them! They still have a Just Frame it Certificate for $50 for only $15! You can only buy one but that is a very good discount. There are some stipulations like you must use them in 6 months, you cannot use them for alcohol etc but it is sure worth it. read more

I had this station 24/7 on (in my workroom), my car and during business hours at my work. It'd been an energizing mix of pop music, maybe a little repetitive. Now it's a mix of mostly hip hop that all sounds the same with very little pop. I guess I'll start pushing buttons or download my own mixes. It was really good while it lasted. read more

What on earth happened to my favorite radio station? Within the past week, they've changed to "All the hits," and their rotation seems to include what 92.9 played before changing their format, plus a bit of KRQ for good measure. The mix of music isn't too bad, it still falls within what I like to listen to, but I'm *completely* baffled by their edit policy. Before the format change, they had some peculiar song edits, including one where they simply snipped 3 beats out of a song, rather than bleeping or silencing the lyrics, to eliminate the word "Bulls---." But listening yesterday, they edited the song "Pumped Up Kicks" to eliminate the words "gun" and "bullet" in each line of the chorus. Quite confusing! All in all, I'll probably keep the station on my programmed buttons because I'm too lazy to hook up my MP3 player to the stereo, but I'll probably be flipping stations a bit more frequently now. read more

I had stopped listening to 97.5 over a year ago. It just was not one of the stations I had thought about tuning into, even while surfing channels in my car. However, that all changed when about 2 weeks ago, I tuned in and heard the DJ's voice that sounded very familiar. It was Carrie! I apologize if I spell her name wrong. However, I have always enjoyed her, she is funny and has always drawn the audience in with her sense of humor and giving a people a reason to never give up. I was so disappointed when she left KRQ, she was the only reason I listened. I believe Carrie is somene who inspires people and doesn't give up. I know she has had many struggles in her life, but she is an insperation to others. I know her dream has always been to have her own talk show. I hope she follows her dreams. She is entertaining and plays a good selection of music. I had to call my sister in Phoenix to let her know. Yes, Carrie does have a following. read more

I could not have said it better than Maribel Alvarez, without a story, food has no sabor or flavor. Well, Edible Baja Arizona is the cure for that. It is packed with the behind the scenes stories of restauranteurs, farmers, brewers, produce brokers, who focus on farm to table. Color me impressed, when I spotted that Barbara Kingsolver and Andrew Weil M.D. wrote articles for the inagural issue! I would forage any day with Barbara! I found the list of what's in season and the local farmer's markets very useful. And I cannot wait to whip me up some of the Tepary Bean Hummus, what a cool use of Native foods. I loved the shout out to my beloved Food Swap Tucson and hope more people join us! In a time of GMO's, obesity, and diabetes we need an outstanding publication focusing on local foodsheds, such as this. I can't wait to check out the advertisers and the businesses who support this magazine. I am super jazzed to check out your fermenting class held in partnership with MOCA. Hopefully, in the future you could add an events section, and I would love to see a bevy of educational opportunities. I know I already mentioned it, but I have to again! The eye candy!!!! The pictures are so vibrant, a visual kalediscope to tempt your tastbuds. Now if I could just get my hands on some Bacanora, "The destilled essence of Sonora", which also coincedtally was the liquid courage behind Edible Baja Arizona. I picked up my free copy at Civano Nursery but you can also subscribe. This trip was absolutely well-planned, informative, and fun. Our tour guide Jesus Manuel Garcia was so full of information!! He talked the whole way to Mexico to the group (we were on a tour bus) about everything we saw on the way from the landscape, the architecture, the politics, the food and the differences between cultures and countries. He has so much passion for this! We visited an orchard in and learned about everything about the workings of the orchard, we also went to a home in Magdalena where we were greeted with such hospitality - we had a wonderful Mexican lunch there, (tostadas, rice and beans, quesadillas, tacos, bread pudding, and quince, along with beer and horchata), we tried our hand at making tortillas, and listened to Ronstandt Generations - there were AWESOME!! We had time to wander around Magdalena and to shop. The tour started in Mission Gardens where we learned about the uniqueness of the gardens. There was a 3 and a half hour unexpected wait to cross back over the border to the U.S., and our tour absolutely made the best of this - they jumped out of the bus and purchased more beer and a bottle of tequila, and pulled out the instruments and sang at the back of the bus!! Jesus and his fiance joined them!! They just made the best out of every unexpected circumstance - they made it so enjoyable and comfortable, and fun!! I can't wait to do another one these - you would never know they were new at the excursion business! I LOVED this trip!!
