Pamela R Bishop -- 2 star I feel compelled to tell the good,…read morethe bad and the ugly about any gym I go to. I came here to Mexico City and I was looking for a gym. Some were very expensive. I found this gym that I really like. So here is the break down. Lets start with the good: It is a high energy gym. Is one of those gym where you just work out hard. Some gyms have that high energy level and some just don't. It offers a good size pool to do laps. It maybe 25-30 meters long. It offers a lot of other classes, like cycling, pole twirling, yoga, zumba, capoeira, ect. It has high standard MMA classes and lots of punching bags and even a ring! With good instructors. Now the semi-bad: If you like state of the art and the newest weight lifting equipment. You will not find it here. But it has everything you need to get a really good work out. Personally I like the kind of late 90s type weight equipment. The bad: The they have a lot of cardio equipment but A LOT OF THE TREADMILLLS DO NOT WORK. Only 10% of them do. So if you go at peak hours good luck getting one that does! they do not maintain the equipment working up to par. Now lets move on to the ugly. Remember I said they have good MMA instructors? well they are not bad. I know because I took classes in Honolulu Hawaii at the best MMA school there and with instructors that have trained world champions. The instructors at this gym are pretty good. However geez their attitude stinks big time. If you ask them if they do private training you'll probably just get a blank stare and a nod saying something like no? I mean they are very stuck up and we are talking ZERO people skills. They are not polite, they do not communicate in an articulate manner at all. They are unfriendly and plain rude. I am a veteran of gyms from NYC, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Florida, Houston, and now Mexico. I always like to tell it like it is. And let people know what to expect. I take my training seriously and I know a cool gym when I see it. I really like this gym. I wanted to keep learning MMA and hire someone that is good to train me like I did in Hawaii....But i'll be darn if I give my hard earn money to someone with such a negative attitude. In Hawaii instructors that train world champions hold their high enthusiasm and train from children to champions to older people. Anyone who has a desire to learn with the same professionalism. But now on to the ugliest part. This gym is way more expensive than 24 Hour Fitness or LA Fitness in the US. Which both have working and new equipment. Specially LA Fitness. They see no problem in chargeing big $$$ for CARDIO MACHINES THAT DO NOT WORK. again of all their treadmills less the 50% of them work. They also have no passes for friends. Not even one visit. They give zero incentive of any kind. We all know the expression "You get more bees with honey than vinegar."

I think this gym offers a lot more for your money than other offerings in the area. When I…read morepurchased my monthly membership for this month, it was 450 pesos. That's a fraction of the gyms in nearby Condesa. Now if you're only looking for weights and machines, honestly I'd recommend SmartFit down the street. But if you're also looking for fitness classes, then this place really offers the best deal. Their class schedule is really extensive. Daily classes of power dance, body bar, yoga, pilates. I think boxing and salsa cost around 50 additional pesos per class, but that's still much cheaper than many fitness classes you'll find in the area. As another reviewer noted, the machines and such are a bit "well-loved," haha. But I've found everything to be in working order.

This gym is known for its MMA classes and Box room, besides the pool which is a 25 meter one…read more I joined for the Boxing room. When i started going it was pretty cool they had besides several other punching bags 2 long hard big ones. Those are really good to practice your kicks. But hey kept changing the box room around, every time you went they usually had taken down some of the punching bags. Then they took one of the big hard kind of bag and now the other one. They never replaced. They have a boxing class in the mornings but the teachers uses it to spar himself in the ring (it has a ring too) and just leaves you shadow boxing by yourself or hitting the bags by yourself the whole hour, after his 4 minute spar with his friend he comes to just give you another combo and goes again. I do not understand how THEY don't understand that you can not sell what you're no longer offering. Seriously?????? Its just LOGIC. They are a bit expensive because they offered a well equipped boxing room among other things. You can't just get rid of the equipment in the boxing room cause you feel like it. Hello! People are paying for it. Also for the classes, anyone can shadow box alone. But to them is like "normal" like "So we decided to take out the two long hard punching bags and yes the boxing teacher can train himself and leave there shadow boxing even though you're paying, so? what's wring with that?" This is the kind of mentality i have seen throughout Mexico. I just don't get it. So yes you're paying and you are not getting what you're paying for and? so? If you complain they get on your face and they tell you that there's no refund and that's just the way it is. ??????!!! Wow.

As a dedicated swimmer on an extended stay in CDMX I searched extensively before finding this place…read moreto work out. The pool is OK - 25 meters with five lanes. The staff is very friendly and there are some English speakers who showed me around and answered my questions. The pool's shallow end is so shallow I couldn't do a flip turn. I found that by going late morning or early afternoon it's not very crowded - I either share a lane or get one to myself. As a serious lap swimmer the water is too warm. The membership arrangement requires you to declare how many times per week you want to swim, then they give you a card that the pool attendant initials each time you use the pool. Swimmers are allowed into the pool for one-hour shifts, beginning and ending at the top of the hour. And to join, one needs to get a doctor's written approval, which can be secured at many pharmacies in the area. The showers and locker rooms are fine. There is plenty of exercise gear - treadmills, ellipticals, weights, etc. #swimming #swimmingpool
