I spent about an hour and a half in here with my young son today. Nick the owner was incredibly communicative, polite and informative. Not once did I feel like I was being sold, more like an old friend helping me with new bike purchases. I was shown several size bikes for my boy and the selection was really good for kids. Then it was my turn to find a new bike. There were several high end models and Nick did not steer me to the most expensive ones. He talked to me about what features and frame construction created the price differences and brought each bike down from its display for me to look at. I was encouraged to try any bike out (even the expensive ones)in the parking lot. Nick was super cool with my son and I and we ended up leaving with two new bikes and accessories. I would absolutely recommend Nick and 805 Bicycles if you want to deal with a shop that has an owner with integrity and who appreciates his community and customers. I brought my bike in for a warranty question. I did not buy my bike here, but they are a local dealer that carries the same manufacturer. I've never been treated better by a bike shop. Most shops/techs are ego maniacs that want you to know you have no idea what you're talking about. Not the case here. The owner (I'm assuming) just wanted to help get my problem resolved. I came into this bike shop looking for some lubricant for my beach cruiser that has been getting very squeaky during routine rides. The oil that was recommended was affordable and worked well. I have used it on both of my bikes (one is a road bike) and I am very pleased with the results. I have an old Beach Cruiser that has 29 inch wheels. But as I got older it's a tad hard to do hills. After seeing the prices of a new bike, did some research on 3 speed axles. Friendly service, not pushy, relevant parts inventory. I've been to the other bikes shops in town on many occasion and it's always the same merch on the shelf. It's nice to see parts that I would actually use. Tires especially! If you actually ride then these are the items you need to buy. I've bought more from this shop than any other in Simi. Fair prices too. I don't like ordering online when I can get the same item immediately. Also feels good to help local businesses. As far as the bike inventory is concerned there are less bikes to choose from but it's understandable. Many bike shops have limited selection these days. I saw some bike path friendly bikes and some other new inventory as well as some used bikes. I do most of the work on my own bikes so I can't comment on service from this shop. I have always had a great experience working with Jon. In my opinion 805 Bicycles has the most knowledgeable staff when it come to BMX as that is what my kids are into. Although I'm always willing to spend some $$$$ many times and I was talked out of the purchase just the same. My daughter has been racing BMX since she was 4 1/2 and now she is 8. Although I wanted to make some changes and purchase some parts and Jon would always ask me the same question which is how is she doing. I would say she getting 1st and 2nd place all the time and he would talk me out of the changes I wanted to make. They have built every BMX bike I have ever owned with absolutely no issues. Hello Everybody. It's my second time at this bicycle shop and I have to say that I have been surprised for good both times. The first time was when I had gone to all the "established" bicycle shops in town looking for a spoke for a 700d rim. Nobody had them but once I ask John at 805, he said "no problem I'll cut it and thread it for you". I asked for two and my bill was $1.50. Today I decided to have another bicycle little problem taken care of. My rear wheel was a kind of loose and felt like a bearing needed to be replaced. That's what an other bicycle shop in town told me some months ago. I went to 805 and they just serviced my hub, taking it a part , greasing it and adjusting the bearing tightness correctly. My rear wheel feels perfect now and the cost of the surgery was $15. Thank you very much guys. You'll see me again next time I have a problem. Andrew read more

John, at 805 Bicycles, has done various repairs on my bicycle as well as my son's. He always does perfect work. We didn't even know what was wrong this last time and when we came to pick it up, he said it had one stiff link in the chain, which caused the skipping problem. John fixed the chain, and made other adjustments. My son said it works great, and everything is adjusted for tight performance. This was only $20! He is an honest craftsman. Because I get treated well and the owner and his son take the time to be friendly and explain things that I may not be clear on. No hustle and no pressure, just good old fashion service and positive customer relations. If they don't have exactly what you need or what you're looking for they will get it, even if it's just guidance and information. The difference between one bike shop and another is more than just a few dollars here and there or a large inventory, it's how they make you feel when you walk in and how you feel when you walk out... and I have no qualms about giving 805 both my business and my recommendation. read more
