Holy Italian cioccolato! So before I left for Rome, I did some research on where to buy chocolate…read morebecause, well, I seek out the best chocolate everywhere that I go. Now, I had forgotten about this place until (happily), I came across it quite by accident while strolling around Monti. So of course, I stopped in. I was greeted by the store clerk who I first thought was a little mean-looking. However. She was a delightful woman who spoke to me in French and took the time to tell me about the different flavors, pricing etc. she was very helpful and didn't rush me as I decided which flavors I wanted. Great service. I selected a handful of flavors - about ten pieces of chocolate, and these cost 8€. Let me tell you one very important thing: this chocolate is totally worth the price. Thus far, I've tried the orange slice dipped in dark chocolate, and the lemon peel (also dipped in dark chocolate) and I can confirm that we are looking at quality. Fantastic flavors! The chocolatier makes each piece right there so you know it's authentic and fresh. Interestingly, the chocolatier is the son of the man who owns the very well known Moriondo è Gariglio, who happens to be Rome's oldest chocolate shop - so he learned from the best. If you're in Monti, these guys are worth the detour.

If you're just expecting top quality handmade chocolates, you won't be disappointed; but this store has plenty more to offer as well. Jams, teas and infusions, jellies, biscuits, sugared almonds and chocolate spreads and crèmes make it tough for even the most self-disciplined shopper to leave empty-handed. They also serve an excellent hot chocolate, to drink inside or take away. The service is friendly and attentive, and although the handmade chocolates are quite pricey, you won't be disappointed with the quality. Remember, chocolate is made from a bean so technically it's a vegetable! ;) Eat your veggies! Yum!

Not just a chocolatier... also a delicious restaurant!…read more Part chocolate shop, part bar, part restaurant. Equal 100% amazing! The more time spent in this simply decorated establishment, the more you discover. The place is huge. It's a still functioning chocolate factory, with old school machinery adding some unique decor to the otherwise modern look. Upon entering, you'll be in the chocolate shop. Glass cases filled with delectable chocolates fill the space. Available to purchase individual or box set. Step in further to the host stand. The tables surrounding are for enjoying beverages and dessert... a more casual eatery vibe. Ciccolata calda, ordered to your modification, should be a must! Unlike any hot chocolate I've ever had, so rich and delicious. If dining for dinner, there is yet another section of seating. Speciality dishes include use of chocolate for the primi or secondi.. I had a ragù pasta dish with chocolate and it was fantastic. The service was amazing in each of the sections... yes, we sat in both, as we initially were confused if they did serve food like some stated since my friend and I arrived too early for dinner and were seated to have a drink. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. As people who are learning Italian, my blonde friend and I, we loved that upon hearing our poor accents, the staff didn't switch straight to English but instead took the time to ensure we understood and used a combination both languages. Sure it took longer for them but it lets us practice and continue to be more comfortable with the language in our new city. I cannot wait to go back and order more of the menu. This place is in my top 10 for places in Rome. A chocolate lovers dream.
