5G has been in existence before the pandemic and I've heard positive online chatter about their croissants. Back in 2020, I was going to order delivery for my family back home but the lock-down happened.
Fast forward to 2025 and I finally found the time to visit this family owned cafe located in a village in Barangay Apas in Lahug.
The exterior is modest and almost disappears with the neighboring residences. Inside evokes an intimate yet homey atmosphere with wooden accents and furniture. The tables & counters are perfect for solo working patrons. A couple of couches are by the door with customizable seating for groups. This coffee shop is is conducive for those who prefer a peaceful atmosphere to study & work. One couldn't tell that the interior was overhauled from the owner's residential garage and kitchen. The pièce de résistance of this place though is the Florentine made La Marzocco espresso machine making all the caffeine magic.
They were out of embellished baked goods that afternoon we went, so we just got a plain croissant and an ensaymada. The (large) croissant was flaky, light, moist and buttery just what a croissant is supposed to be. Definitely among the best I've had in this world. The Ensaymada Cruffin (croissant & muffin) was the sweet treat I needed to supplement my cup-of-Joe.
The Latte was also at par with some of the great brews I've had. We requested for the barista to surprise us with a latte art and he delivered perfectly with a swan figure on a moccacino. The coffees are made from medium roasted beans by the way.
The team was courteous & polite all throughout our 45-minutes stop here. 5G was definitively a positive encounter. read more
