Had an awesome time. Paintballing in the day and clubbing at night was a great combo. Everything was organised for us, everyone had a great time. Would recommend 48 hour events to anyone wanting to plan their stag do! read more

We were really disappointed with this company, and in particular Ali, who was my main point of…read morecontact. We booked a tarot card reader through them and thought everything was set and taken care of, until I contacted the tarot card reader personally to give my info in case of emergency on the day of the wedding, and found out that not only had she not been confirmed, she hadn't received payment, nor was she aware of where the venue was that she had been booked. Also, the woman requested to bring her husband to work with her, as the wedding was on New Year's Eve and didn't want to spend the holiday without him. I found this puzzling and when I approached Stylish to help fix the problem(s), I found them to be not only less than helpful, but unable to understand why I was upset in the first place. In the end, they ended up canceling the tarot card reader with a promise to refund our deposit. It was a couple of weeks later that we received notice (from Nigel himself) that they would not in fact be refunding our deposit and they felt that the entire miscommunication and fault was my own. Not only did I have to find another tarot card reader on my own, but we ended up paying more money because we booked on short notice. Overall, I feel they were unprofessional in more ways than one (hard to get into all of the specifics in a review) and that they were mainly dissatisfied with the amount of work they ended up doing for the only act I booked with them. Had I booked more than one act, I have a feeling they might have tried harder to keep my business, which really shows their character. It was when I was reading through their Terms and Conditions sheet and saw how many misspellings there were, that I realized maybe their lack of attention to detail takes on more forms than one. There is also a bad review on Google+ from another unhappy customer and their experiences with Stylish closely mirror our own. I don't recommend them if you're looking for an ethical company and a stress-free way to book talent for your big day.

In fairness, it's not a great place if you're planning a sophisticated party - but for some good old fashioned shindig, then this is the place for you. Also great for hen and stag nights, as well as the wedding itself as it's one of the few places on Gloucester Road you'll find confetti. The shop assistants are friendly and chatty so if you're looking for something specific, ask away!

The shows you get to see at the old vic are a far cry from the tacky unoriginal touring shows you get at the Hippodrome. Showcasing its own in house productions you find a lot more edgy and original theatre, so it's a must for all theatre lovers. On this occasion I took my one and half year old son to his first ever theatre production, Magic Elves. The show was in the small theatre downstairs and was perfect for small children and adults alike! He was engaged and mesmerised from the off and I hope this starts a similar love of theatre...

I've tried a few different hire places but Audio Forum were by far the best. They're tucked away in an industrial estate (as many of these places are) in Brislington, but are well worth seeking out. First of all, despite the slightly ramshackle look of their premises, they know what they're doing, hiring out gear for clubs and bars all over Bristol. They're also happy to dispense advice and don't cost that much (I hired a glitterball which was bigger than my torso for £15 for the weekend). Plus they have a laidback attitude about when you return the stuff (as long as it's back in time for the next weekend essentially). Most importantly, I've been let down by other PA hire companies in Bristol and Audio Forum are much more reliable.

It's easy to miss because it's not particularly striking and it's located on the busy A38, so if you aren't specifically looking for it you'd probably drive straight past. Once you're inside, however, it's a different story. It's stocked just about floor to ceiling with wrapping paper, pretty ribbons, party streamers, table displays, balloons, gift boxes, and cards and cake decorations for every occasion. Whether you're after birthday surprise banners, congratulations cards, or Easter chicks, you'll find it here. They also stock some excellent accessories for the Stag and Hen party markets - including a range of cheeky items to surprise the bride-to-be. But perhaps most exciting are the fantastic party costumes, whether you're looking for a complete Halloween outfit, or just some amusing accessories such as fake moustaches or wigs. Whether you want to dress up as a Mexican or a Medieval lady, a French maid or a Flower-power hippy, they've got it all - including a few saucy costumes, too. It's a while since I've been to Flingers, but when I did visit it was good fun, well-stocked and run by friendly staff.

The cafe is a good size, spacious, good for groups and has a great little play area with toys to keep little ones entertained. The adult menu is pretty simple, breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers, salads and a few other dishes, I had Mac and cheese. The options for kids were great, there is a packed lunch station where for £4.50 you can select 5 items that go in a cardboard box. Or a hot food menu for £5.50 that comes with a drink and yogurt or fruit. My son went for the Mac and cheese too. The food was delicious but both dishes came out lava hot and when you've got a starving child the last thing you want is to have to sit and wait while the food cools down. I also thought the hot kids meals were a little over priced but then it was kind of expected considering this was @bristol. Overall great experience though and I'd recommend this to anyone with kids looking for a good lunch spot in the centre.

An engaging day out, and a lot more refreshing than a stuffy art museum. Aiming for that (at least for most teachers) impossible goal of making learning fun, it certainly is a fun day out but I'm not sure if too much is learnt there. The exhibits are all interactive, you can pedal to generate power for a T.V. and lift a four foot diameter globe with a very long lever (this is some sort of reference to the ancient Greek mathematician Archimedes, for those that care). This means almost any kid will enjoy themselves here, and you'll see plenty of ten year olds hurtling between each thing, eager to try out everything. The staff are young and keen, and will earnestly explain the science that each exhibit is meant to teach you about. With lots of glass and primary colours it generally feels fresh, something most museums are nothing like. Go there if you've got curious kids to distract, or if you're just a bit of one yourself.

I was also told that the book is taught on the curriculum so to basically expect school groups - it isn't my first thought when booking a show but even so it doesn't excuse the disruptions. Won't give me a refund and bought my ticket with an NHS discount to make it affordable for myself. So disappointed with my experience, and zero empathy from the hippodrome. Avoid if you can.

The place itself is located in Berkley Square at the top of Park Street, so in a pretty posh place really, and this is reflected through the club... you go down some stone steps to the entrance and then you are met by an interior of classy slickness, and a really cool cocktail bar! All the staff are dressed incredibly smartly which adds to the posh ambience, and you really feel like you are in a top notch place - with brilliant service! At the back of the club there's a cool spiral staircase which leads to an upstairs dining area where they serve food, I've never eaten here personally but I've heard it's great! I have been up to the terrace however, which is pretty cool. I'd probably say this is the smartest venue I've been to in Bristol, and if you are looking for somewhere to hold a special occasion or business do then it's definitely worth a look and I'd give my recommendations!

I went to a private view here held by the artist Jim Starr (http://www.jamesstarr.co.uk/) When I visited Jim's work was to be seen throughout the Square Club, it looked amazing on the walls of this elegant Georgian house. It makes for a great gallery space. Outside there is a fantastic Terrace, it is an ode to zen like tranquility with wooden furniture, ambient lighting, out door art and chill-out music filtered through speakers, making it difficult to believe you are actually in the heart of the city. Drinks are however rather pricey but if you are after a nice drink in a refined tranquil atmosphere it is worth it. Not just a ship, there's a whole museum…read morething going on too, and they are currently expanding with the renovation of another building on the other side of the ship, which is going to be recreating Brunel's actual drawing office. The ship is hermetically sealed in its dry dock, with a humidity-controlled environment keeping the remaining hull from rusting. This is where you start your tour, and it's nice and toasty down there on a chilly day. You can wander right around the hull down there, seeing the construction of the metal plates and wondering about the huge rip in the side and the crude patch they applied when the ship was brought back from the Falklands. Next, there's the museum part, where the story of the ship is told by various exhibits. Several items of ship furnishings are there, including the main mast boom; and there are several interactive displays to keep the kids amused. It's also fascinating to peruse actual letters from passengers on the ship, which really give you an idea of what life was like on board. Just through the room where you can dress up in Victorian fashion for a photo, there is an animated film that tells the story of how the ship was salvaged and brought back to Bristol. I found this very interesting, although it could have used a few inserts of documentary footage to liven up the animation sequences. Then on to the actual ship itself, where eschewing the offer to climb the rigging, which costs a extra tenner and is done under supervision with a harness and hard hat of course - I was momentarily tempted I confess; we took our audio tour widget and descended into the interior. You get a choice of 4 audio guides, and with each one there are numbers throughout the ship that you dial into the handset to get the appropriate blurb, which was very cool as you can wander where you will and not have to do it in any particular sequence. The interior is fitted out as it was when she was carrying passengers, so you can really get a feel of what it was like, from the 'steerage' areas with stacked bunks right through to the promenade lounge with its faux-marble columns. Definitely a must-see tour item in Bristol. A fascinating bit of history, and I like the way that you can wander around at your own pace and not feel that you are being harried in any way. Full marks.
