The young lady said a few minutes. Okay, no problem. I was standing waiting at first; normally it takes 5 minutes. We're at 10 minutes now so I sat down. Young lady says to me "it will only be a few more minutes " okay. Still waiting..... now we're at 45 MINUTES! I CANCELLED IT at this point because this is absurd! 45 minutes for toast, tomatoes and cheese. She goes to check if it's ready first, NOPE NOT READY. Mind you it's been 45 minutes! The " head chef" came walking out being snarky. Had an attitude work me instead of offering an apology. No sorry for wait or inconvenience. Mind you my other food is in the car ice cold now because it's almost an hour now I waited for BRUSCHETTA. I've been a patron for over 10yrs. I have no idea what's happening with management. Very disappointed I will keep in mind my treatment on today before ordering again.

In fact, a family came in just after we sat down, and they could not get any food except drinks and dessert. The mixed Tuscan crostini plate (photo) was very good with several Tuscan specialty meat and cheese, chicken pate, fresh ripe tomatoes...my wife said she had the best salad with tuna (photo) ever. I thought every ingredient was very fresh. With a Yelp check-in, you'll receive a complimentary glass of procecco (Italian sparkling wine) which was very nice. Overall a great dining experience here. If you're in the vicinity of Monticchiello, Italy, this is a must stop. There's a large free parking lot within a five-minute walk. Highly recommended.

It has both indoor seating and (weather permitting) outdoor terrace seating with killer views looking towards Pienza and over the Val D'Orcia. This is one of several noteworthy restaurants in town that have put Monticchiello (back) on the map as an "it" place. The cuisine is anchored in traditional Tuscan dishes, but upscale and prepared with panache and creativity. Our dishes were quite good, expertly-executed, although just a bit pricey. They have a great winelist, (predictably) rooted in all the great local wine districts, but also focusing on both Val D'Orcia wines and other areas of Italy. Service is very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. It's become (justifiably) quite popular so reservations are likely a must, especially if the weather isn't great and the only available seating is indoors. We enjoyed our meal there, without being absolutely amazed or entranced. I think we're also very glad people are flocking to Montichiello again. I'd certainly take a look at this place if you're staying nearby. And...if the weather gods favor you, by all means get an outside table for the view!

There is a small park right in front of the terrace where one can enjoy the view without dining at the restaurant. FOOD: 3.0. Ordinary. One diner described the taste as pre-made and then warmed up. Later when our agriturismo host heard that we dined here, he frowned and said "micro-waved" food. - Risotto orzo: 2.5 - Gnocchetti di patate: 3.0 - Guancia di manzo: 3.0 SERVICE: 3.0. One server was very considerate and worked hard to provide a good experience. When we entered the restaurant he had us wait while he cleared an edge terrace table that had just been vacated. The other two servers were indifferent. That balances out to 3 stars. AMBIANCE: - for those without an edge terrace table: 3.0 - for those lucky few who have an edge terrace table: 4.5

BEWARE! This place is now garbage!…read more Years ago, Doppolavore Le Foce gave us one of the most memorable meals we'd ever had. We were so taken by it that we flew from Los Angeles with family, planning several days in Tuscany just to experience it again. What we found this time was nothing short of disastrous, disappointing and regrettable. When we arrived, we were informed that the restaurant is now under new ownership. Still, we held onto hope that the quality would remain. Instead, our meal was quickly derailed by our server, Luciano, who was astoundingly rude and dismissive from the start. Though my Italian is conversational, he failed to engage with my requests, brushing me off with barely-concealed impatience. When my mother asked for a smaller portion of steak, I caught him rolling his eyes. As a vegetarian, I requested a primo selection to be severed as a secondo. Which he failed to honor. And when I ask for a green salad, he offered me a chicken salad. He then repeatedly tried to push unwanted dishes, like a caprese salad I had to decline three times before he finally stopped including it in the list of items that we wanted. My parents ordered a reasonable portion of steak, yet Luciano brought an absurdly oversized cut, resulting in an eye-popping €114 charge. It was clear he cared more about driving up the bill than listening to our requests. When I raised these issues with the owner, hoping for understanding, he defended Luciano's poor service and made little to no effort to rectify our experience. Eventually, they sent over a manager, who was courteous and offered us complimentary drinks and a return meal - which we declined. The manager was indeed kind and completely understood my Italian. Adding insult to injury, the food sub-par. I've had more satisfying pasta at American chain restaurants. But the worst came later: I spent the entire night sick with food poisoning!! I'm serious!! I spent the remainder of the night curled up on the bathroom floor of our villa, instead of in a bed. And the next day, I couldn't eat anything!! This iteration of Doppolovo robbed me of a fantasy meal; and left a bad taste in my mouth; literally and figuratively speaking. Please don't make the same mistake we did. Save yourself the money, health risk, and disappointment. Doppolavore Le Foce is no longer worth a visit - avoid it at all costs.

It turned out to be a Michelin awarded restaurant and we were about to be treated to a simple, amazing meal of fingering potatoes, arugula salad with stunning balsamic vinegar, and fresh pasta. We enjoyed sparkling water because we had a long evening of celebrating with friends and family ahead of us. The service was stellar and the atmosphere was relaxing, beautiful, and elegant. I've been making fingerling potatoes like the dish I enjoyed here once I got home. Our timing was off when we passed by again or else we would have stopped for another beautiful meal. Highly recommend!

They've had Michelin stars in the past but not this year but it was still amazing quality food. The first night I had the duck and I wanted more of it along with the pears and slaw. Tagliatelle also delicious and we came back to try the Florentine steak. Couldn't really order a different temp bc that's how they eat it so I just went with it. Some pieces cook more bc of the hot skillet. Carbonara wasn't on the menu but we decided to ask the Chef and he made it for us. Also absolutely perfect and well made. The inside was very nice and classic Italian decor, romantic and perfect for a date night.

For appetizers, we had the prosciutto with seasoned lard and the sheep's cheese souffle with honey and balsamic served with a poached pear. Both were very good but had to make sure to leave space for the main entree. They had a special pasta with white truffle since it was the season -- and I had asked them to change the past to pici --- since the pici is local to Tuscany -- and it was the best pici I have had during this trip. For dessert, we had the dark chocolate cake with orange slices -- great ending to a great meal. The wine selection was also superb. They recommended the Casanova di Neri, a Brunello from 2007 and it was the best Brunello I had. It was the best pairing for our dinner. And we had a glass of grappa with our dessert... perfect ending. The service was great as they recommended the best wine!
