He is very friendly, attentive, and creates a relaxed environment that makes learning feel enjoyable rather than intimidating. In just under three months, I've already noticed much improvements in my forehand, which has given me a big confidence boost. My backhand still needs some work, but Demetrius is always encouraging and patient, which helps me stay motivated. I also really appreciate that he takes the time to review clips I send from my solo wall practice and gives me useful feedback in between lessons. That's another thing, taking lessons with him has given more enough courage to book a court and practice on my own. It's clear he genuinely cares about helping me improve, and I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a supportive and dedicated tennis coach.

With that said, I figured my first lesson would be a breeze... wrong! lol. From our first lesson, we jumped right in, drilling the fundamentals... grip, stance, footwork, etc. It was clear his passion for tennis and his dedication to seeing his students excel! His lessons go beyond the courts as he regularly sends videos/homework for his students to study between lessons. I feel immensely grateful to have found Coach D. My skills are far beyond what I could have anticipated 6 months ago. I'm regularly complimented on how well I play despite being a novice. Whether you are a beginner (like me) and looking to kick-start your game or, if you're a seasoned player wanting to take your game to the next level, seriously, look no further.

LA Tennis in Westchester could be a hidden gem!…read more The GOOD: Facilities are a bit dated, but still super fun to use. You pay $5-8 per hour to use the courts during peak times. There are about 5 hours in a day where the courts are free. First come, first served. Mary in the reservation desk is super friendly and welcoming to the neighborhood! Lessons are plentiful! Coach Edwin is super patient with the students and is very knowledgeable. I had a great conversation with him and learned about the facilities, the coaching styles, and lessons. He's great with the kids and is a talented coach. The NOT SO GOOD: At all costs, avoid getting any type of tennis services (re-grip, re-stringing racquets, etc) here. I paid for two racquets to get restrung and re-gripped. The man / coach (name being withheld here) promised me that it would be ready the next day. I came to pick it up 3 days later, it wasn't ready. It was promised the next day, and I showed up - not ready. Third time I was promised the next day - it wasn't ready. Five days later it was again promised - nothing. The coach then told me he only had time to re-string one racquet ($25) and returned the rest of my money. WOW! Super unprofessional. I then took my racquets to another nearby tennis shop in Marina Del Rey, and they informed me that the racquet was strung wrong. The first string was put in incorrectly and didn't even touch some of the other strings. This would have caused all strings to move and loosen quickly over time. Instead of taking the racquet back for a refund or re-service, I decided to eat the cost myself and get it strung by a real professional. I lost $25 but learned a valuable lesson that the service is unprofessional here.

The facilities are nice and thr courts easy to rent. But I was told I couldnt teach tennis to my 7…read moreyear old son while I was on the court. I get not wanting professionals giving lessons for hire on the courts. But a Dad not being able to teach his son how to swing a racquet? How does that happen at a public park?

Review #955 2026-019…read more Hours: Daily, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM; closed 1st Tuesday at 2:00 PM monthly for cleaning, park to reopen when the concrete is dry. My son & I were supporting his friend who had a part in the "Alice in Wonderland" musical at Hermosa Beach Community Theater. After the show, the kiddos wanted to hang out at Hermosa Beach Skate Park, which is west (behind) of the theater. The skate park is a concrete park that has various obstacles like ramps, funbox, manny pads, ledges, & rails for all skill levels, & open for drop-in use. It seems smaller than the one in Wilson Park that closed in the late 2000s. Skateboards, in-line skates, & scooters permitted; no bicycles. Safety gear (helmet, elbow pads, knee pads) are required; in-line skaters must also wear wrist guards. Failure to comply with rule or code of conduct may result in suspension; the City of Hermosa Beach may also close the skate park at their discretion. There's free parking available; the driveway is just east of the skate park's entrance. It wasn't that busy on a late Sunday afternoon, probably because the weather was slightly chill. Some of the older kids (middle school?) were more advanced than the younger ones. They were either on skateboards or scooters, with one in-line skater. Of course, there's always a couple of hooligans that don't follow park rules... they were attempting to triple skate together on a scooter down the ramp. Of course, it was an abysmal attempt. O_o The ramp wasn't too high so it's not probable for a major injury or concussion. But what if it's that 1% chance? Why risk it? And to the point of getting caught & having the skate park closed to others in the community that follows the rules & uses it appropriately? Especially since there's only a handful of skate parks in the South Bay. My son didn't have his gear because it was an unexpected play date. He has a skateboard, but prefers his scooter & bike because he's more skilled in those. He mostly stayed outside or along the perimeter to chat with his friend. I couldn't find any rule of pedestrians/observers preventing them from being inside since they're not active skate participants. As a general rule of thumb, safety-wise, I told my son to stay outside to avoid unnecessary accidents. He went in when he noticed fewer skaters/scooters & no one was roughhousing. It's a bit far from our place, but if his friend is into skateboarding, we can come hang out next time with his scooter at Hermosa Beach Skate Park.
