It was intense, a lot of physical stuff. I'm in my 50's and ( I thought) in pretty good shape, but it was still a very good workout. I learned quite a few things about self defense tactics and security awareness in general. The large class was full of really great supportive women and the instructors and their assistants were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. Despite it being a large class there were a good number of instuctors so the student to instructor ratio was fine. If I had a question there was always someone right there to answer it. One day I was going to Costco nearby so I decided to go to this location. When I checked on Yelp, it didn't have any ratings. I drove there and the gym had large windows facing the street and the two sides of the parking lot. I couldn't see any people inside, or the lights on and the door had one of those realtor key lock box. My first impression was that it wasn't open yet or that they have closed. I drove around the property again and I finally saw a person inside, so I parked and went in. When I walked in there was a gentleman inside the office and I asked him for the WiFi password. He pointed to a sheet of paper and asked me to first read the gym's rules. I did and I told him that they were the same as my home base AF. I asked when did they open. He said that in February of this year. The place is small, but everything looks brand new, with the newest equipment of any AF that I have visited. I retired from the hospitality industry so I am very picky in sanitation and looks of places that I visit. The place is pristine! My only negative observation is that they have paper towels and a spray bottle without a label as a cleaner. I prefer gyms that have antibacterial gym wipes as some of the clubs have. Otherwise, the gym is excellent and I wish the owners great success.

From my very first class I got a workout and left with applicable skills, which is extremely hard to do! The first class I took was the Krav Maga. I was a little intimidated at first, being the only one in the class that didn't have some kind of belt, but the other students and Zane, the owner and instructor, made me feel really welcome. Just to be clear, what I am looking for is to be actually able to deploy moves, not just run through drills, and Zane gives you that right from the beginning. We worked on disarming a knife, two person attack, and kicking drills. The other class I have attended is the Women's Self Defense class. This is taught by Michelle, Zane's wife. I think every woman needs to take this class! We learned that pony tail grabs are a common attack point and how to disable someone that attacks in this manner. Repetition makes perfect but what I like is that after one class you have enough grip on the fundamentals that I feel like I could deploy some version of it. Great place!!

So I FB messaged her about registering and she walked me through the sign ups. She even messaged me to confirm the number of people I wanted to register and when I would get location information. When I didn't respond to their email, she messaged me to let me know. Sure enough, the email had gone to my "junk" folder. The class was two days: day one in a classroom and day two at the range. Nice class size, and very interactive. Love how we take a class to carry a weapon but learn all the things we need to look at to avoid getting into a confrontation where taking that last resort is necessary. We were also assisted with filling out our CCW paperwork which made that a breeze. Steve is an excellent instructor and very professional. Out on the range he was super patient and helpful to anyone who was a novice or needed extra help. Made sure everyone understood the rules again and that everyone was safety-conscious. He got us all qualified and we didn't even realize that's what we were doing!! We also were able to buy ammo to shoot other handguns that were available. I would highly recommend taking a class through Sierra3Alpha if you are considering any firearms training.
