I feel like if you have heritage in Cambodia, this place is a must to experience. Oum Ry is the only one who has a reason in keeping Pradal Serey alive in Southern California. He is 80 years old and is so agile and sharp. If you care about Cambodian culture, humble beginnings, rooting for the underdog, and a great work out,  this IS THE only PLACE to be. I wished I learned about him earlier to support him.  They have kids classes during the week and sparring sessions every weekend. All the kids seem like they are having fun when I dropped by. Instructor Ron is super helpful, very kind, and a funny guy. Parking is street. I've been to the gym numerous times and had zero problems.  There is a ring, heavy bags, speed bags, aqua bag, squat rack, There are zero frills and its raw as it can be here. I freaking love it. They don't try to sell you anything extra and they appreciate every member. You can drop in for the cost of a day pass, join to be a hobbyist to going pro. If you haven't gotten the book, I highly recommend it. It's an easy read with action and heartbreak. I was able to find solace in reading about experiences in the killing fields. I would also highly suggest dropping by the gym to purchase. They have available paperback copies. Bring cash to support.  Private sessions with Oum Ry is available. I got the honor and privilege to train with him privately and he will teach you the basics. You don't need equipment because you can use and borrow a loaner. There is some equipment you can purchase too. I was able to bring my own wraps and gloves, which was all you need to start. Oum Ry is super pleasant to work with, wrapped my hands, and held mitts for me to work on my technique. He is a bit shy but so humble, he speaks English well and if you know Khmer thats a plus.  I've link a way to purchase his book below. They do have paperback copies at the gym and you can even get it signed by Oum Ry himself. Just call.  I purchased mine with cash. https://doppelhousepress.myshopify.com/products/i-am-oum-ry-a-champion-kickboxer-s-story-of-surviving-the-cambodian-genocide-and-discovering-peace Would love to see some fight shorts or shirts for sale. There's a variety of classes you can take such as cardio kickboxing, women's bootcamp (my fave), zumba strong (lots of fun and high energy), muay thai, and strength and conditioning. Bailey is awesome and I highly recommend taking a class with her as your first time coming here! Note: Small parking lot, but I've never had a problem finding a spot on the weekdays. There's also street parking as well.

Being new to the area, I was looking for a specific kind of gym--smaller, non-chain, that offered martial arts but also a good variety of strength conditioning and cardio classes. With LB Fitness I found exactly that, and more! Cardio kickboxing, combat conditioning, and Muay Thai with Edson have definitely been transforming my body--I am stronger, leaner, have more endurance, and am overall more fit than ever before. But taking these classes and seeing the results has also had a tremendous impact on how I feel: more confident, grittier, and full of energy! I'm now addicted to learning more combinations, practicing my kicks and punches, and am motivated to continue getting faster and adding more power. Also, as Edson is big on technique, his combat classes are great to learn how to properly work with weights, lift, and develop more strength without getting hurt. Boot camp and Zumba Strong with Bailey are also a must! Mixing cardio with strength conditioning (to a great soundtrack!), these classes are all about tightening, leaning, and burning calories. Also, Bailey is an incredibly encouraging, supportive, and motivating instructor, so while she will push you to your limits, you likely won't even notice until the next day when you are beyond sore =) Finally, LB Fitness tends to attract people who are willing to work hard to get results, but who are also down-to-earth, friendly, and supportive of each others' journeys, which has been truly refreshing. I definitely appreciate the community aspect of this place and am excited to keep going there. You definitely need to check it out for yourself!

Coach Josh, Jazzmine, Kevin and Brenda have their own style and structure which is awesome to experience in the week. They each demonstrate the techniques and sets before you begin and assist if they see you need some adjustments. There was never a moment where I felt intimidated regardless of the gibberish (KBXC language) they write on the white boards. You learn to make sense of it all while watching your neighbor or reciting the code for yourself. I am always motivated and engaged and keep coming for more. I've been learning new ways to train and kickboxing has been keeping my mind and body agile. Another huge plus is the flexible schedule. With both morning and evening classes available, it's easy to fit workouts into my lifestyle.

If you're tired of the same gym routine, these classes are a great option--they include strength training, cardio, coordination, and balance. Highly recommend!

Man, was I in for a rude awakening! I ended up booking an Advanced Bagwork class, which the staff recommends attendees doing 10 of the Undefeated, Strong & Champ classes before attempting. All the classes at Mayweather are HIIT (high intensity interval training). Short intensive sets, followed by a few seconds of rest. Having my hands wrapped up, boxing gloves on, I was ready to throwdown. The Advanced Bagwork class is exactly what I wanted. Mainly throwing punches on the various heavy bags & BOB's (body opponent bags), with some cardio from rowing machines, ropes & balance trainers. A few seconds of rest before moving on the next station. I kept switching from orthodox to southpaw, balancing out my stances. Loud hip-hop music blaring through the speakers helped the energy remain high, as we threw different combos & punched until exhaustion. The staff were great. They were friendly, accommodating & eager to wrap hands & provide support, when needed. Damian was the Advanced Bagwork instructor, and he was easy to follow & motivational. Mayweather Boxing + Fitness is located on the 2nd St. side at the Marketplace Long Beach, left of Stretch Lab & CPK, behind Trader Joe's. I was huffing & puffing for air, deltoids on fire, with my first two fingers on my left hand going numb from punching too hard/too much. And, it was all good! I felt great throwing all the jabs, crosses, hooks & uppers. The tension of the day melted away with each thump on the bags. If you're looking for an intensive workout, I highly recommend giving Mayweather Boxing + Fitness a try!

I feel like no one is left behind. Work out playlists give everyone that happy and beast mode. They're all welcoming. The location is the best part! No problem with parking and next to it is the Trader Joe's. Across the street is Whole Foods. Healthy restaurants and cafes are just few steps away. I cannot complain. I have conveniences around me. Cleanliness,a major part to the gym quality,is not an issue here. Bathroom is super clean! They always go around and hand you sanitizing wipes. Full service! It also saves time for a member the station in-between breaks. They have free hydration powders, bananas and protein bars. They have 2 massage chairs. I know.... right? Such luxury makes a member stay,I am telling you! Lol. Lastly, cold towels are served after each work out class. Hmm... please continue doing this. (Note to the gym management: Use free and clear detergent. The detergent scent is overwhelming,:(. A good alternative would be a few drops of essential oil. Thank you in advance! I think I've said enough! See you there!

On a whim, while doom scrolling before bed, I came across an ad on Instagram for a 6 week sponsored program at Hardcore Fitness. Being a marketer, I knew it was a ploy to get me in the door and sell me something else, but something told me to go anyways. I hadn't read a single review. I didn't ask anyone if they had been before. I just went with my gut and walked in. I met with them for about 35 minutes where I was actually listened to, and sure enough, I ended up signing up for a 10 week Pro membership. For someone that has a full set of dumbbells sitting on her floor, a walking pad, a vibrating pad, one of those hoola hoop waist weight belts that have all sat unused for at least a year or two, it was a big commitment! I thought maybe if I make myself financially responsible for doing the work, I will get more out of it. Well today, I made it to day three. I figured out already that what is driving me is the community. Yes the workouts are great. I love the way it's set up. It's 8 minute workouts at 5 different stations, doing as many reps as you can, which keeps each workout exciting and makes sure to work out a variety of muscles within the hour. Really is a good fit with my ADHD. But I have seen a lot of the same faces when I've been just these few days and everyone has been really encouraging and helpful. No one has made fun of me for only being able to lift the bar with no weights on it LOL or that I can't do one pullup yet, or even a pushup. But it hasn't even been a week yet, and I can already feel a mental change in how I feel about working out. I think this 10 week program is the swift kick in the ass that I needed to truly make a difference in my health journey. I just turned 50, I lost 50 pounds, and I don't want to have bat wing arms!! There's no creepy dudes in here looking at your butt. The other ladies I have met so far have all been so supportive and cheering me on. I have experienced nothing but encouragement. What's stopping you from joining? Come do it with me!! I only took off a star because the floor is kind of in need of an upgrade, but they have a ton of yoga mats to help make it more comfy!! Oh, and this is a huge bonus, they have parking!!!

In January 2025, I submitted a certified cancellation letter with medical documentation due to a health condition that physically prevents me from using gym facilities. The contract I signed (Section 7.1b and 7.4) clearly states that in the event of disability, I have the right to cancel without penalty with proper documentation and 30-day notice. They received my certified cancellation letter on January 22, 2025. I have the receipt, tracking, and medical notes to prove it. Instead of honoring the contract, Hardcore Fitness continues to: - Send harassing past-due notices - Demand I fill out online forms and book a call with management, which are not required under the signed agreement - Ignore repeated written requests for confirmation - Claim staff "can't process cancellations," even though they confirmed receipt of my letter via text I even sent a detailed email to their management (Rick) with screenshots, proof of delivery, and a clear breakdown of what the contract says. No resolution. Just more harassment. I've since filed formal complaints with: - The Better Business Bureau - The California Department of Consumer Affairs And I'm fully prepared to pursue legal action if they don't immediately stop their predatory billing practices. I've saved every document and message. This isn't just bad customer service -- it's intentional, manipulative, and illegal. If you're considering joining, read the fine print and pray you never need to cancel.
