My fiancé went into this barber shop yesterday and Taj greeted her and asked what haircut my 8 year old son was getting. She said he wanted a Ronaldo haircut and then showed him the picture below. He told her he didn't feel comfortable doing it. He was fading someone's hair in the chair and you can see him fading someone's hair in the picture below. Personally I think he just bullshitted her because our son has a lot of hair and he didn't want to do it. If he can't do that haircut I don't think he should be cutting hair at a barbershop, he needs to go back to school. Haircut was meh - much shorter than what I asked. Luckily hair grows back. What I didn't like was the dishonesty and I'm pretty sure the guy who cut my hair - (Cannot confirm name but I sat at "Kenny's" station and it was a black gentleman who cut my hair.) When I went to pay, he told me cash only and pointed me to the gas station to the ATM. After paying in cash, I got into my car and see all these credit card stickers on the window. The person who cut my hair very clearly was rushing and trying to get the next customer in. We stopped 3 times during the haircut to see if everything was going ok and each time I told him what he was doing was not right. In the end he told me he couldn't do what I wanted because it would look "unnatural". What would a middle aged middle eastern man know what's natural for a young black man to look like? The haircut was suspiciously fast and he cut my hairline back unnecessarily far. My recommendation is to skip that place altogether and just go to the barbershop across the Racetrac on Bloomingdale. Being new to the area I was looking for a good barber and went to the 301 Barbershop only because of posted business cards at our RV resort from "Ray the Barber". While I'm thankful for his service in the armed forces, as I found out during our conversation, I do not believe he has much experience or training at all cutting hair. First, I am not thrilled to be writing a negative review, but my experience here was not good. I dislike how specific I am being in this review, but I cannot explain my disappointment appropriately without providing it. This is my first significantly negative review posted on any online site. My hair at the time was parted to one side, with product as I was coming home from work. My sides were shorter, as I have a more "hipster" style cut. I have been trying to grow out my the length of the hair on top to accommodate this style for several months. I sat down with Saad, and provided instructions on what I was looking for. I stated to the barber that had a "more hipster style cut" and asked the him to give me "short sides, faded up high, leave the top long as I part it to one side (as I motioned to my hair and the part), and that the line for the part started here (and gestured to the clear location where my hair went from short to long). First, it was the most uncomfortable haircut I've had in a while as he was moving very quickly and without much regard for any discomfort I had. Again, I had product in my hair, so brushing with a dry brush painful. If the result was good, I would have cared less. Second, after the initial instruction, no questions were asked to ensure we were going in the right direction. During the cut, he had me turned away from the mirror so I didn't see the process. He quickly clippered the sided of my head. Then he pulled out the straight razor and began working on the part area on my head. I figured this was his strategy to ensure there would be a distinct location for my hair to part. Instead, he literally shaved a line, the width of a pencil, in the side of my head. I am not exaggerating. I didn't realize the damage until the end. At that point he began working on the top of my head, just as quickly, with clippers. I felt like it was not quite the right strategy and was resigned that it wouldn't be perfect - but I had faith. However, he cut it WAY too short and completely ruined the ability for my hair to part. The part line was shorter than finger thickness and sticks out like a chia pet. He showed me the results, and I essentially had a long buzz cut with a line razor-ed high up on the side of my head. I began to explain that things were WAY off and it looked bad - I asked him to try to fix it to at least control the damage. I didn't raise my voice or use any foul language. He began randomly cutting more hair off, then stopped to ask Fe. She suggested a different I try a different style because the cut wasn't going to work now for what I wanted. I stated to Saad , if that was the case that the LINE needed to be worked in better. I stated an couldn't part my hair now...and Saad handed me a brush to try... I started again to explain and Fe stepped back over to explain that Saad's English wasn't very good and to explain to her... Listen, I'm all fine with not speaking English well, but why wasn't that stated at the beginning?? If he didn't know what I wanted, just ask me. I don't care if you get my instructions translated, but do it BEFORE you cut my hair. At that point, I have a ridiculous cut and the guy can't understand why I am frustrated. Fe went back to working on her customer, no hands on instruction, and no direct instruction to Saad. Hector then came over and recognized what I initially wanted, saw the error as well, gave me a "yeah, that's not what you were looking for" and went back to work on his customer. I am now sitting there and Saad begins cutting length off the front, not addressing the issue. At that point I asked him to stop. He says "if you don't like the cut, you don't have to pay". There was nothing that could be done as no one there was going to help him or me. I got up, dejected, and walked out. I have NEVER left an establishment without paying, but this time I was so sincerely disappointed. read more

Everytime I go here I am greeted and made to feel welcome. The barbers are fast and efficient. I dont think I've ever had to wait more than 5 minutes for someone to tend to my son. Nothing is more frustrating than when a Barbershop has only ONE barber on hand. Especially the day before a holiday! Literally sat since open and have watched at least 5 or 6 other people walk out just because of that. I'd say that it's not a regular occurrence but it is If you aren't going to take appointments then make sure you are staffed appropriately so people aren't burning candles in the sun waiting. Heard someone mention a comment that things have changed since management has passed hands - not sure how accurate that is... Food for thought... I have been getting a hair cut here for years. I'm a disabled combat vet and have many physical disabilities. Even though I appear healthy I have mobility problems. My license plate reads "disabled veteran". So I park in the HP spot in front of store and proceed to sign my name for a cut. As I sit down with my daughter, one of the barbers says, ur gonna have to move that car. Our customers in wheel chairs use that spot. So I relied, perhaps U should leave policing to the police or take a look at my plate. He smartly said a few worlds and proceeded to argue with me. One again I reminded him that I earned the right to park in that spot as I took a bullet for our beloved country. Then another barber chimes in and says, im a disabled vet and points down at his customer in the chair and says so is he. Last time I ever strep foot in that establishment that disrespects our nations disabled vets. read more
