I asked to sit outside, and my server placed me at a small table with two other people. I don't mind sitting with others in a communal setting, but I thought it was strange and a bit rude to be sat at a table meant for four with two other people who were at a different stage of their meal than me. For an appetizer I had the Hausgemachtes Würzfleisch in der Blätterteigpastete mit Sauce Hollandaise (Ragout fin in a pie crust with Hollandaise sauce, pictured) which flavorful and a good amount of food for an appetizer. For my main course, I had the Gebratene Flugentenkeule mit Apfelrotkohl und Thüringer Klößen (roast leg of duck with red cabbage and potato dumplings, pictured). The prices seemed reasonable for the amount of food I had. I've read other reviews about this restaurant which hinted that this was a touristy, crowded restaurant, but I didn't feel that way here. The service was decent for Germany, and the food was promptly brought to me.

This is a massive German Bar/Restaurant, perhaps the best known in town. It is both vast and busy…read more If I lived in Erfurt it would be the kind of place I would be reluctant to go to because of the crush, but somewhere I'd always be glad I went afterwards. The beer here is really excellent. Their Hausbier (pils) was very drinkable, probably the best drink I had in Erfurt. Followed this up with a potatoe beer (not quite sure how the potatoe is brought into the brewing process) which was also a nice drink. Decided to eat something and the dumpling was certainly a tasty way to soak up some beer.

I have tried the Pilsner Urquell chain two times (previously in Prague), and both times the food delivered in flavor. Servers were pleasant and helpful. Since this is a PU chain, you only get a choice of two drafts, light or dark. Also, I wish they would wipe down the table before serving me. The previous customers only had beer, but the overflow brought a bunch of ants to the party. Nice patio and ample indoor seating. Dinner service stops at 8PM on Sun.

Went there twice on two different days. Both times food was good - typical Czech fare (svickova,…read moregulas, krkovice, etc). Service is normal. If you look white and don't speak Czech at the table they assume you're German and speak to you in German (we are Dutch, I understand Czech and ordered in Czech, nevertheless the waitress kept speaking German). Unfortunately the bill presented a "various drinks 10% tax" (translated) charge of 67kc highlighted in red, which we never ordered, and never received. It's evident this is not a real tax, as we didn't order 670kc worth of drinks, so it can't be 10% tax of anything. We had two dishes, two beers and two ciders as listed, and the tax is always listed separately as DPH 10% and 21% at the bottom of the order, as it is here too (correctly). We disputed this 67kc charge and the waitress didn't want to give in/lose face, and eventually snatched the 700kc from our table and left us. If it's tax it's always listed separately, not as a 'Název'. If it's a service charge, it should be labelled 'servis' or 'obsluha' or 'tips' - it wasn't (and even that is uncommon in CZ outside tourist areas). The waitress also told us we can pay "36 euro" (written in pen on the bill) which as of the time of writing is the same as 875kc, NOT 742kc - furthermore trying to cheat us out of more money through unofficial conversion. Being cheated for the equivalent of 2.5 euros is a really low blow for a restaurant that is owned by a large brewery and we won't be coming here again. We advise anyone who does come here and speaks anything other than Czech to carefully check their bill or go to another place - you can get pub food and a beer at 5 other places in a 100 meter radius. It's a pity, because we liked the food and the previous time the bill was fine and the ambiance is good - but the manager should be aware of what their staff is doing. I'm certain if I came in alone and only ordered and paid in Czech without my Dutch speaking family, such a charge would not have appeared - as this hasn't happened to me before in the past 4 years in Czechia.
