It's small has the cutest memorabilia and exhibits that display the cultural impact and significance of the legendary route 66. You'll find vintage signs, old photographs, and displays about the communities that Route 66 passed through. The museum also offers some cool interactive elements, like vintage vehicles and restored gas pumps, which really take you back in time. It's not a huge museum, but it's definitely worth a visit if you're driving through the area like my friends and I did from Las Vegas. The staff were super friendly and knowledgeable, and they shared great stories about Route 66. The location is also nice because it's near the original route 66 so you can take a stroll afterward and get a feel for the area's history. Be careful because there are quite a few vagrants and the surrounding area is a bit run down. Nevertheless, this museum was a fun, low-key stop if you're into Americana and road trip culture. There is an animal exhibit, early years in the high desert, cowboys, the military and stones. They also have a small pretend city with a firestation, market and bistro. It was great to learn about all kinds of things while also having a lot of playful fun.

At present the only California Air National Guard's 196th Reconnaissance Squadron maintains a Predator training base there but there are no other units actively stationed here. On a darker note, the site was and remains a Superfund site with 33 active areas still being cleaned of toxins. It also now is the home to some fo the Federal Correctional Complex, Victorville. About the only thing that remains of the base (aside from some fo the old buildings) is the F-4C gate guard that is now technically part of the SCLA.

The hike down is beautiful with wide desert views. Just remember: going back up is a workout. Bring plenty of water and be ready for sun. The hot springs themselves are awesome--several warm pools and the cold creek right next to them. It can get busy, but still really relaxing. Overall, a great adventure spot if you're up for a tougher hike. Would definitely go again.
