Came here with a huge group on a weekday evening, appreciated they had an English menu although not many. Had the Antipasto 12 Apostoli with a variety of meats, cheeses, and grilled veggies. Free bread and olives - bread was chewy and fresh, paired well with the antipasto plate for sure. For my main, I got the tommaso without sour cream, and it came with tomatoes, mozzarella, mushrooms, and pancetta. Crust was soggy in the middle, pizza was huge, not a lot of flavor. Didn't enjoy it very much. For dessert, got the tiramisu; it wasn't too sweet which I appreciated, but there was a bit too much cream. The cake was moist and tasty though! Service was really slow, perhaps we were a big group (probably around 40-50 people), but they knew we were coming so having more than one server for our group would've probably been a good idea. read more

Massive place. Came here with a party of 8 after just flying in from the US and while we were all a bit jetlagged, these guys were awesome with quick / great service and wonderful pizza. Delicious! This place is huge and on a Thursday night it was packed to the max. Interesting decorations which are decorated in a biblical style but regardless it felt very cozy. The S-banh runs over the restaurant and shakes the building a bit but after the first couple of times you get used to it. Food came out very quickly and service was friendly and efficient. We tried the Pizza Judas and John. The John is heavy on the anchovies so anyone with an aversion should steer clear! We came here as part of a leaving night out from work, and initially I was quite hopeful when we walked into the restaurant. The huge space is nicely decorated (maybe a bit over the top) and there was a nice atmosphere about the place. Things started going down hill a little however when I saw the prices. EUR11 for a pizza and EUR8.50 for a cocktail is on the steep side for Berlin. I don't mind paying these prices for a great pizza and cocktail however the pizza was good but not but nothing to write home about and the cocktail was just plain bad. S-Bahns passing over head every few minutes also spoiled the ambience too. read more

The original 12 Apostel near the Savignyplatz was such a great success that they have opened several others, including one in Mitte. 1. The Food Giant pizzas, big enough to share. The pizza crusts here are slightly thicker than at the other location. But the sauce is still good, though they put on too many toppings and way too much cheese. We've tried almost all their pizzas at least once and the toppings are over-the-top. They have a smallish menu of pastas and antipasti. The wine list is not very long, and they only have one type of red and one type of white wine by the glass. Cocktails are nothing to write home about. 2. The Staff Better than at the Savignyplatz, not quite as arrogant, perhaps because it's not as overcrowded? 3. The Atmosphere Mixed crowd, some tourists and students from nearby. Good place to grab a bite before the opera. 4. The Damage Most pizzas are around 12 euros. Drinks are pricey, 2-10. A glass of their not so stellar house-wine is almost 5 euros. 5. Useful Tidbits Tends to be on the expensive side. If you want great pizza, and don't care about surroundings or the staff, go to I Due Forni, Il Casolare or Il Ritrovo. read more

First visit was during a business event with a group of 70 persons. The location under the train tracks was interesting and the aroma was wonderful. We had 4 more people arrive who needed to join the group. The Resturant manager was unwilling to provide another table in the area. I would think that the dollars associated with such a large group might make him willing to accommodate. But he was very arrogant and not willing to give up a small 4 top that had been reserved for a party of 2. Not good customer service! Since they were reluctant to provide a larger private area we were shoe horned into the center of an already packed dinning room were 6 tops were turned into 8 tops. Then to make matters worse the 2 ladies showed up late and left within 5 minutes due to the normal volume of such a large group. Had they not been so arrogant everyone could have had a nice evening. But this not the case. We will never give them any more business. Please let other folks know I the normal dinning service is just as bad! read more

It's my first trip to Berlin, so forgive me for stating the obvious -- this restaurant is located directly below the S-Bahn train tracks. This is OK, as long as you don't mind the occasional rumble of trains overhead. My server was nice, my pizza was OK (but not amazing), and the beer selection is almost adequate. Our family dcrashed on the terrace on August 12th or 13th, while it was bloody hot. The four of us had different pizza's; very well baked, very tasty. Delicious beers (Schwarzbeer), but then again, it's hard to get a beer in Berlin that doesn't taste great. All together: very enjoyable, tasty and nice quality. read more

I'm not normally a great fan of pizza but a student friend took me here for lunch some time ago and it turned out to be quite an OK place. For a start, never come here for dinner as you get the pizzas half-price during lunch. That's the sort of thing you learn hanging out with students. So 6 Euro or so for a huge pizza was quite seriously good value for money. I had the Thaddeus (they tend to name their pizzas after the Apostles) and it came with large cardiac-arresting dollops of cream cheese on top of large prawns. I couldn't finish mine but again, I found that students are useful for cleaning up unfinished plates of food as well. The atmosphere is quite nice, in a formulaic way, as this is part of a chain which are all decorated pretty much the same way. There are 2-3 dining halls, all with domed ceilings painted all over with biblical murals. The rumblings of the S-Bahn overhead added a sort of industrial urban effect, which is something one either hates or likes. The place was reasonably packed for a mid-week lunch although it's tucked away between Friedrichstrasse and the Museum Insel. Quite a few diners were students and local Germans, and despite my fears, the domed halls were not too noisy for conversation. Service was OK, and you can also see your pizzas being made in the kitchen and stone oven at the back of the hall. Overall, if you like cheap, reasonably good pizza for lunch, and you're in the area, well, you can do much worse than coming here for your midday meal. read more

Great Italian food in Berlin. Fair pricing on both food and wine. The pizzas are cleverly named and phenomenal taste-wise (we got the Judas - the spicy one - and split it between us). We were there yesterday with 9 people and I must say that the waiters were very friendly and providing good service. Pizza's are huge and very tasty. Some people had pasta Mista which you share and they said it was amazing. My own pasta with shrimps and rocket salad was quite blend and I had to add lot of salt to make it ok. Wines are good and not too expensive. Tiramisu is fantastic as well. Our group was very happy with the evening! read more

Ok, it's under the S-Bahn tracks, so what! The food is great, the lunch menu keeps the quality and reduces the price (not when you add drinks though). But yeah, what matters to me is what they produce, and that's good pizza. Stopped in here based on other Yelp reviews, but I was not impressed. I had a side salad to start and it was very average...just a few carrot strips and romaine lettuce. My husband and I shared a pizza with red onions, mushrooms, and ham. He had anchovies on his half, which ended up being a bad mix with the ham. The pizza was just okay. Came here for a company event while on a business trip. The environment, tasteful but relaxed, was conducive to a fun dinner that stayed professional but wasn't stuffy. There were a range of groups, mostly large parties that were either working age or family get-togethers. The plates were huge (as typical for German portions), but the highlight of the evening must have been the massive pizza that came out. It was at least four feet in diameter- the largest pizza I have EVER seen. In addition to looking nice, the pizza had different toppings based on the different orders that had been placed, and all the ingredients were fresh and the pizza crust thin and crispy. Not the best pizza I've ever had, but the size was a conversation piece in itself. One part that was a bit odd was restaurant staff coming around offering massages- still a bit confused as to how that worked, and it seemed a bit awkward (actually veyr awkward) to me, but other people seemed to enjoy it. Very cool location and delicious food. Their pizza's are tasty and you can ask them to put whatever toppings you want. Wine is cheap and alright but the pasta was what really got me. For a pizza seems expensive until you see the size: they are huge. They will let couples share, even on the lunch specials when the pizzas are a bargain EUR6.90. Atmosphere inside is lovely with paintings and a stage. Lots of tables, very popular ang becoming a bit of a German chain: one has opened in Koeln. read more

Strolling round Berlin on my first evening I was thrilled to come across 12 Apostel, having read about it diring my pre-trip preparation. Sitting outside on the benches was great fun, watching the world go by, and even the S-Bahns going by regularly only added to the sense of chaos around. I can't remember which Apostle my pizza was, but it had feta on and and was pretty good, supremely washed down by a typically fine selection of wheat beers. read more

Choose the Apostel after seeing it from restaurant Jolly across the road a couple of nights before, my food was super both courses, but my wife's pizza although nice was not the warmest, again my beer was good my wife had a coke which was flat and warm I would definitely would come back but not sure my wife would, result! read more

pizza here is really excellent. so cute how each one is customized according to the apostle to which they pertain. when i came here as a kid i remember being so impressed that you couldn't hear the s-bahn at all, which as an adult seems a bit silly. regardless, the service is good, pizza is great, and overall experience is good for large or small groups, majority of people will be happy here. read more

Fantastic pizza place in the heart of Berlin! We ate there twice in the same week we liked it so much. The food was fresh and came to the table fast. They have a good selection of beer and wine too. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was well attended but not overly crowded and pricing was excellent.
