It was a dreary and cold Thursday evening when we ventured out. We didn't realize how packed places would be and we were turned away (kindly) from two establishments before we walked a bit further and I saw that the Saks hotel had a restaurant, 11A. I walked in and although they were packed, they sat us immediately.
They had a special menu: starter was a vegetable soup, main dish was a Munich-style schnitzel with fries, dessert was like a panna cotta with raspberry and vanilla sauce: all for a reasonable 25 euros.
We three ordered the special and were very pleased. The soup was a purred potage of vegetables that was delicious. The schnitzel had a hint of Dijon mustard and possibly honey under the breading. It was equally delicious. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crisp.
Dessert was outstanding. It was served with cotton candy floss and a vanilla sauce. All the flavors married perfectly.
Service was great. The restaurant's bar is in the hotel lobby which has comfy seating.
I'm glad we didn't give up and go home, opting instead to give them a try. It's a new local favorite. read more
