This hotel has a ton of charm and the location is so serene with the waves crashing below the rooms. The location couldn't be better - pool that overlooks the ocean, direct beach access, right in town so you can walk everywhere so easily. The staff was wonderful as well. I ended up losing my passport, and Sarah at the front desk went well above and beyond to make sure it wasn't left in the room after we checked out. Like, WAY above and beyond. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area, even over the more expensive, higher-end options. Hope to be back soon!

The staff is incredibly professional and attentive so check in and getting my parking pass was a breeze. The hotel sits right on the water so I believe most rooms probably have ocean views. Ours did and it was fantastic. The bar and dining room also have beautiful ocean views and they also have patio on the roof so you can sit and enjoy the open air and watch the ocean while you have a bite to eat or a drink. We really loved our stay here and will definitely stay again on our next trip to St. Ives.

A friend found St Michaels and was able to get us a 3 room suit for a very good deal. Our room consisted on an en suite bath, small sitting room, large master bedroom with a king size bed, and a smaller bedroom with two single beds. The staff was helpful and got us our dinner reservations and the food was delicious! The waitstaff was so attentive and actually declined the tip that we gave them since our dinner was supposed to be included in the price of our room. One evening we inquired about room service, and after giving us some run around, they brought us some sandwiches. They were terrible and cost quite a bit considering they were just white bread and cheese! Unfortunately, despite what they told us when we booked the room, they were not able to fit us in at the spa except for one of our group who wanted a massage. We also didn't get a chance to use the pool, which would have been nice.

Although it's not located near beaches, be assured you won't miss anything. It's situated in the…read moretown centre, 5 mins to the train station and harbour, surrounded by shops, pubs and restaurants, only few blocks away from Co-op (open till 11pm). The price is seasonal, starts from £10.95 to £16.95 per night which is a bargain considering by service and atmosphere you will get in return. It suits group stay with a low budget concept as all rooms are filled with bunk beds, 6 beds per room minimum. During high season you might have to share the room with other people if your group is less than 6. The beds look a little awful to me at the beginning but they are surprisingly warm and comfy enough, the most important thing - the whole place is clean. It has 2 sections for toilet/shower units. The one downstairs is huge, separated for male and female and it's free. The one upstairs is much smaller, shared between male/female and the shower unit is 20p for 8 minutes of running water. The communal area is spacious, equipped with sofas, pool table, dart board, tables & chairs and a small bar. The kitchen is a surprise; huge, clean and it has everything you need for cooking. Feel free to grab free coffee/tea and some stuff left by previous lodgers. The courtyard is also a diamond; basically it's the only smoking area in the building, located next to the kitchen so you can have your drink or meal outdoor with fresh air. It also has some space to keep your surfboards and to dry your wetsuits, BBQ equipments are also available.....oh and the hammock is my favourite seat too. Management team is a group of young people so they understand the nature of backpackers/student groups and they are very friendly. The place could be very noisy at most of the time but all guests are asked to behave and keep the noise down after 11pm.

We went for a walk around the hotel and a quick dip in the pool. Overall we had a great time at the Hotel California, when we are back in new quay we will defiantly pay them a visit again
