This started as an Internet-only all 90s station, or 90s On 9 via satellite radio. It's supposedly…read morethe first FM station nationwide (?) to feature this format. I knew Sacramento was a test market for new products & services, but this is TORTURE like animal testing. Basically, a computer was hired to play songs that were commercially released during 1990-1999. What I liked about that era was the alternative rock and grunge rock KWOD 106.5 FM played. The Buzz still plays Pearl Jam, Cake, Stone Temple Pilots and Nirvana -- but they mix in TLC, Prince, Faith Hill, and Notorious BIG. That's like a cook who has dropped a filet mignon (or tofu patty, if your vegetarian) on the floor, intentionally stomped on it a few times, put it back in the frying pan and served it to you on a fancy schmancy plate. IT'S JUST NOT RIGHT when your food has WEIRD BITS in it!!

Yes I like 90's music. No 106.5 The Buzz is NOT good…read more Losing kwod Alternative is VERY sad for Sacramento, as now we no longer have an alternative/rock station. Yeah I GUESS we still have 98 Rock, but they still cater MOSTLY to hard rock and classic rock, sure they're playing some alternative to try and make up for KWOD's loss but it's not the same. LET ALONE how small of a repertoire The Buzz has, I mean shoot I hear more "replays" on The Buzz than on 107.9 The End..... It's ok I don't even listen to shit ass regular radio anymore. I do sincerely feel sorry for anyone without the luck of having Satellite radio and or an i-pod. DIE BUZZ DIE!

Who doesn't love stopping off at the radio station to pick up their FREE Chris Brown tickets?…read more Let me break it down for you, the night I won tickets was magical. My daughter and I are headed home, listening to 106.5. They announce that if you want to win Chris Brown tickets, that aren't even on sale yet, be caller 17... and I'm calling. If you've ever participated in trying to be the right caller, you know you've got a call about 20 or 30 times... And most the time, not even make it through! Surprisingly, I make it through within the first few calls. The guy who picked up ask me what my name was, getting a little excited, I told him my name and he said how bad do you want Chris Brown tickets... My daughter and I are sitting there getting excited and part of me was thinking is this a trick? Oh how I know the radio station so well... he responded back with "well, keep calling because you are caller 14. So you have three more chances to win!" I laughed with him and hung up right away just to call back again. I started fumbling with my phone and got a busy signal the first time. So I hang up and I call back again and hear the phone start ringing... Fumbling with my phone and getting nervous, I accidentally hang up, hahaha... I call back one more time and the call starts ringing. By this time I'm thinking they already have the right caller, with me fumbling with my phone, I'm sure I wasted too much time. After 8 or so rings, I look at my daughter and say they probably already have their winner. And he picks up the phone... with a handsome strong voice, he asks "who am I speaking with?" And I jokingly say "do you not know who this is?cc He asks playfully and I respond back in a loud whispering voice "It's Ursula!!!" My daughter & I squeal, and he puts me on hold. He needed to cut & edit the voice recording so he can play it on the radio... After a song he comes back on in his response is, "how the heck did you call back and get through so fast?" He gathered up my information and told me someone would be in touch with me for when my tickets were ready to be picked up. The day I went to the radio station to pick up, the woman behind the counter was so wonderful, so smiley, and so pleasant. When you go to pick up your prize, you have to have a proper ID on you. She did tell me stories where people try to come in with fake IDs... How horrible! She sent my daughter and I off with our winning tickets and 106.5 bumper stickers so we could pass them out to her friends. She made working there look like it was such a blast!!

The location of the station isn't too far off from the Madison Ave freeway exit, but they only have…read more5 or 6 Visitor parking spaces! I came by to claim a prize won on the STAR 106.5FM Facebook page ("Free Movie Friday" Contest) and parking was a challenge. It's definitely a bigger station than others I've been to (for other contests won), such as Hot 103.5FM or AM 1530 KFBK studios in the Arden area. They're also the home of 107.9 The End.
